Love is for the birds!

Last Saturday night instead of sitting down and watching the Borgias, I went up to my studio for some uninterrupted stamping. It seems lately, I only stamp here and there for about 15 minutes or so.

I find Valentine day cards get me through the post holiday creative slump.

This simple card is from a card recipe found on day one of Jennifer Maguire's Clean and Simple online class. This is about as close to a one layer card as I can get!!

Three weeks to Valentine's day, so get your heart on and get crafting!!!

Handmade Baker's Twine

Baker's twine is all the rage right now. Where would we be without it. I know I used a ton of it on my holiday cards this past December. But of course as crafters we need a multitude of colors and that can get pricey. I stumbled across a blog that showed how to make your own baker's twine. WOW!! What a revelation! The above are my first attempts at making my own. Not bad huh?

Wait till you find out how easy it is to make your own. You won't buy it again and you can have any color you want!!

Where is Spring??

About a month back I received my box of new stamps and dies from the new Love and Kindness collection from Memory Box. Full of stuff making me wish for spring and more time to create. Somehow creating papers for school just doesn't do it.

Great Gift Idea!!

Like most of us creative types, we get our best ideas while dreaming. This idea came to me in the middle of the night. I had some of that sticky back vinyl that George got me many Christmases ago. I picked up a couple of votives at the dollar store. Using punches and dies I created these unique votives. I so want to keep them for myself! :) This would be a great teacher or last minute gift.

This idea is my gift to you- enjoy!!

In the Meadow

Here I go with the new PTI "In the Meadow" set again. It is the perfect holiday set.

I think I am finally finished all my holiday cards. Yippee!! Now I have to address them. I have to mail out about 50 and hand out about 40. How many cards do you all send out?

Do you send them to folks even though you know you won't get a card in return? This is a topic the DH and I have every year. I try to tell him I'm a cardmaker, I have to send out lots of cards!

I am back to work tomorrow, but will try to post again.

My Mom, the Artist

Today my mom would have been 95 years old. She died 5 years ago. My mom claimed to not have an artist bone in her body. She enjoyed my crafting but I could never get her to try out some stamping on her own.

It was when my mom began to get senile and was going to move into an assisted living center, I was finally able to get her to try her hand at stamping. I am sure if she had been in her "right mind" she would never agreed. :)

I put some paints, sponges in front of her and she created the above background. She stamped the cat and with a little help she colored her, so she looked like her kitty, Kitsie. I put the card together for mom and she was so thrilled. She even had to sign the back- "designed by Florence".

I keep this card on my desk and smile every time I see it.

The Season is Almost Here!!!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, but it is time to start thinking Christmas and the joys of card making. This is an oldie but goody. The reindeer stamp from Hero Arts remains popular this year.

I hope like me, you are pulling out your holiday stamps, papers and embellishments and going through them to start on your cards.

Holiday Card for Fun!

I finished my school work early and decided to just play for fun. I made this whimsical holiday card with the new Hero Arts / Sizzix stamp die combo set. This is the "Holiday Cheer" set I got from Simon Says Stamp. Loving this set!!

It is not to late to sign up for Jennifer Maguire's online Holiday card classes beginning tomorrow. I have taken her last 2 classes and learned so much.

Oh yeah, just for the record, all the time I have spent on my first class paid off. I got an A!!!!!

Happy Snowy Halloween

Happy Halloween Everyone!

It snowed in southeastern Pa. yesterday! I look out one window in my studio and I see a green apple tree and think it is summer, I look out my second window and I see a yard covered in snow! How weird is that!!!!

I have been taking a few hours off from school work each week to stamp. Got to or I will be nutso. Here are some Halloween cards I made.

Here is Mr. George's card. He is a sucker (no pun intended) for the cutesy cards. If I had seen a teddy bear vampire stamp he would have loved it.

Back to School

I have been a poor blogger and will probably be one for the next 2 1/2 years. I have started back to school for my Bachelor's degree in nursing. It has been over 30 years since I have been in school!

Not sure what to expect, but so far my first class- Philosophy of Nursing is a lot of work. 6-8 chapters to read each week. Papers to write. My first paper took me all day Saturday to write! I still have 2 more to write. George tells me it will get easier. I sure hope so.

I did realize that to keep my sanity I must keep on creating. That means finding the time to fit in my stamping. I have decided to get up early on Saturdays and give myself 2 hours to be artistic.

My hats go off to all you students!

Fall for Memory Box

I spent Saturday at the grand reopening of One Little Spark in NJ. While I am a Memory Box designer and Dave would gladly send me the Catalina wreath die, you know how us stampers are, we have to have things immediately!! So I gladly handed Pat Thorpe my charge card for the Catalina wreath die. I had an awesome time with it. The above fall card was my first and then I had to try a few others.

If you go to Memory Box's Outside the Box blog on Tuesday Sept. 6th. I will have a step by step on how I created the Catalina wreath embellishment on the cards.

Sorry I have been a poor blogger lately, followers. As the saying goes "sometimes life gets in the way......"

Feline Frenzy

I have 3 cats so this Penny Black stamp when straight to my heart. You have big tough Winky in the upper left, the elusive Zephry in the upper right and my sweet, precious and adorable Pinkie on the bottom. The colors came straight from Stampin Up's color coach.

The white on white with the pop of green (the most beautiful color in the whole world!), brown and pink

really makes this card sing- oops I mean meow!

Last weekend was the Valley Forge CKC scrapbooking convention. It is always the last weekend in July and while the classes are never very good, the convention is loads of fun and there were lots of stamps this year. I have been going for the past 4 or more years.

I am not a huge penguin fan- not like my buddy Bevy B who goes gaga over anything penguin. I could not resist this "surfin' penguin" from Art Impressions. All I could think of is what fun I would have with his trunks and the surf board. I pulled out my scrap box and grabbed some old BG paper to create this card. I think this little guy just arrive at the beach in Maui.

Just Saying...

I am sad that summer card camp is done. It was a great because it gave me new techniques to try and new color combos to explore. I am sure I will be revisiting the classes frequently.

The above card was for a class I was hoping to teach. Summer is a hard time to get students to sit in a class, when they can be outside enjoying the weather.

I will share it with you. I use 2 Hero Arts background stamps that seem to match each other. I used my fav color combo, blues and browns. Add a border strip, a flower, a saying and you are done.

Card Camp Week 4 Last Week :(

I know I told you I wouldn't be able to make a card, but I found myself with today off and yeah! I got up to my 99 degree studio and made this card for the last week of card camp. The pear green, teal, turquoise, sky blue and white colors will cool you down just looking at them.

I tried to use various techniques and ideas from the last 4 weeks. I love the clean simple design of this card. Plus it uses my new stamp set- Little Bitty Bird from PTI. I am a sucker for any bird stamps.

Spooky House

I took a class from Michelle Zindorf the Queen of the brayer. I had a great time and learned some amazing things from Michelle.

Using many of the techniques from Michelle's class I made this Halloween card with the new Memory Box stamps. For a first attempt on my own, I don't think it is too shabby, well maybe shabby chic?!!

This is probably the last card camp contribution I will be able to do. I go back to work tomorrow and I won't have the time to play. It sure has been fun. I loved this week's color combos. I have been messing around with this card in other combo's but the reds and browns just really worked.

Well, I have been doing my homework from summer camp and made this thank you card after watching Kristina do this weeks's video on card design. Of course I had to throw in a few birds from the new PTI stamp set I just got. I like this card because it has a variety of papers without all the fussy layers. I wanted to keep this card but did give it to my friend Pat for her generous birthday present.

I signed up for summer camp- yeah I know I am 54 years old! Summer camp?!!? Ahhhhh but this is summer card camp on line! Just the kind of camp I like. I get to sleep in my own bed at night!

Camp is taught by Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire, plus a host of guest teachers. The card above features this week's color combo- purple, pink, sky blue orange and white.

Farber Castell Big Brush Pit Pens

It seems anything Farber Castell is hot right now. Of all the stuff that is out, the big brush pens were what I was most interested in. They are an india ink pen perfect for using directly on your stamps.

The cost was holding me back. While not outrages at $4.95 a pen, you know me I can't just have a few I need a bunch! Last week my local art supply store Merion Art and Repro had a HUGE sale on them- 40% off and there I was, credit card in hand.

Here is quick card I made using the pens, nothing fancy, just showing colors. This is one of the cards I will be teaching at One Little Spark in July.

Yes I know his has absolutely nothing to do with stamping, but I was honored to be part of the team to do an endoscopy on a 400 year old Hungarian mummy that is part of the Mummies of the World exhibit (based on the German Mummy Project) starting next weekend at the Franklin Institute.

Lankenau Medical Center in partnership with the Franklin Institute participated in a catscan on a 600 year old South American baby mummy. We also performed a laproscopic endoscopy on the Veronica Orlovits who along with her husband and son were found naturally mummified in a crypt in Hungary. The purpose of the endoscopy was to attempt to obtain biopsies of stomach tissue to test for a bacteria that is known to cause ulcer disease.

What an experience this was! The mummies arrived along with all the media and anyone else from the hospital that could find there way down to farthest corner of the hospital.

The nurse in me really came out when I requested a sheet to be put on the stretcher that Veronica was laid on. Her garments were gently removed and 3 natural openings were present in her abdomen. We went through these openings and were able to gather what we felt to the best of our knowledge was the stomach and take our specimens.

The scientist in charge of the project could not have been more thrilled with the size, amount and quality of our specimens.

I can't wait to see the exhibit myself knowing the small role I had in the research of this project.

Make Room for Cards

Here is my half cat Zephry. She's my half cat because she leaves home in April- May and doesn't return until November. Oh, she might stop in to say hi once in awhile just let us know she's alive. Amazingly Zeph has been doing this for the last 12-13 years. George thinks she has a summer family, I think she just loves the outdoors and "camps" all summer.

I had to chase her of this pile of wood to take these pictures.

These are 2 other cards using the new Memory Box paper collection Valise and some of Dave's new dies.

Rumor has it he is coming out with lots more this summer. I will keep you posted.

24 years ago......

on one of the hottest days ever, about 99 degrees in the shade, George and I were married. It is so hard to believe it has been 24 years! It seems like just yesterday.

Don't ask me what the key to a good and lasting marriage is. I don't know how to answer that. I mean I hold a grudge, I will go to bed mad and there a million things that he does to annoy me, but ya know what George has always been there for me, he makes me laugh (even when I don't want to!), he is a great art critic and most of all he loves me despite the million of things I do that annoy him!

So on a day just as hot as 24 years ago we are as happy and in love as ever!

Friends

I had a misunderstanding with a very good friend of mine. I was thinking one thing and she was thinking another thing.

Well I gave myself a week to chill out so I wouldn't say something I would regret. During that week my friend built the misunderstanding into something bigger.

When we finally did get together to talk things out, I thought everything was OK but she wasn't so sure despite what I said.

I am hoping this card says it all and we can both be in a good place again.

My Own Cling Pops

Most of you have seen the new cling pops from Hero Arts, they are cling stamps with elements that pop out and can be used in the original stamp or on their own.

Well, I have my own version- of course since I am always cutting up my stamps to make them more versatile. I bought this HA stamp a while ago and realized the thank you just wasn't going to work for me.

Sooooo.... out comes my trusty x-acto knife and out comes the thank you!

The thank you now pops in and out. It will probably more out then in- since I don't have a zillion occasions to use a thank you where as a birthday greeting would be really useful!!

Her is the birthday card I made for my good friend Ray-Ray. Purple- a color I rarely use, but I really like how this turned out and the possibilities are endless. The saying is from Savvy stamps- an oldie but goodie.

Special thanks go to Shari Carroll and her video on coloring with colored pencils that I switched up to use with my copic markers.

thinking of you Mom...

Mother's Day is always a bittersweet day for me. My mom died on Mother's Day 4 years ago. She lived a rich and fulfilling life. At 37, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a reoccurrence when she was pregnant with me at the age of 42. Now this was the 50's and the treatments were not nearly as advanced as they are today. My mom told me she never thought she would die and just went on with her life taking care of her family. My mom lived to be 90!! I am convinced a great mental attitude can defeat anything!

This card reminds me of my mom- her favorite color was pink and she loved roses.

These are the items you will need to make this card. The stamps are- B1760 gorgeous bloom, B1761gorgeous mini bloom, B1765 makes me smile. Not shown is water color paper and a black ink pad.

Stamp and emboss the gorgeous bloom in white. Rub the distress ink on a craft sheet and using a water brush or a paint brush begin filling in the roses with the ink. I start with darkest ink and finish with the lightest ink.

Stamp and emboss the mini bloom and paint it and cut it out . The leaf I free handed with a glue pen and embossed and painted. assemble the card and stamp makes me smile.

So thinking of my mom makes me smile.

Dieing for Memory Box

Well Dave listened to you and he came up with his own dies! Some match his stamps and some stand on their own like the flower border above.

I have been having such fun working with them! Along with the dies he has a new collection of papers called Valise- they are done on craft paper and inspire the shabby chic in me.

The butterflies are Dave's. A row of butterflies to use as a border or on their own.

Good Afternoon everyone!

Ahhhhhhh... a quiet moment to myself. I got out of work on time, George isn't home yet, and dinner just needs to be reheated.

Here is card I made, that I saw somewhere in my blogging travels over the last month. I love the soft natural look of the eggs. It really evokes springtime huh?

I die cut the ovals and then sponged the ink onto them. Lo and behold I still had a speckle stamp that I had not gotten rid of in the last purge. I just lightly stamped the speckles onto the eggs and finished the card.

You expect a wee chick to pop right out of one.

Hop to it! Time for those Bunny Cards!

One week until Easter and I am busy getting all my Easter cards done. Being as both the Pa. conventions were before Easter this year I bought lots of new Easter stamps. So I have been having loads of fun!

The Copics are perfect for the coloring on the stamps I bought. I saw 30 seconds of a demo on Copics at the Allentown convention and learned more in those 30 seconds then I have in the 3 classes I have taken. Boy- I can see my improvement already.

The first card is using the Close to my Heart set - "Sensational Season". The second card is from the Penny Black set- "Garden Friends".

The interesting technique in card 2 is the background is done from just inking a cuttlebug folder and placing a piece of card stock inside and gently pressing the ink onto the paper without putting it through the cuttle bug. It looks like a background stamp huh?

Trifecta!

Last week was a trifecta of stamping. On Friday I came home and a box from Memory Box was waiting for me along with a package from Hero Arts!!

WOW where to begin! I don't know if you can tell but the MB box is 2 layers deep. The lower level is the newest collection not being released till April. If I show you, I will have to kill you! :)

The envelope design block by Hero Arts is one of those stamps you clearly think you can live without UNTIL you see what everyone is doing with it! It couldn't arrive soon enough!

Sooooo... I had my Saturday all planned, me, Memory Box and Hero Arts and a day of creativity. But wait it was the weekend of the Stamp Scrap Art tour in Oaks. Off I went with Pat and Bevy B for some more shopping.

I hadn't planned on spending to much, but Darcie's stamps was new to me and I really had to restrain myself. They are cling stamps that are well worth the money! The copic book to keep track of my markers was the best find. While there were only 12 vendors it was still fun. It is nice being at the conventions, I always run into old friends that I only see at those times.

So the stamping will be saved for my day off. The question is where to start!!

Note Card Frenzy

I have been having the best time making notecards. It has taken me 10 years to realize what a great gift they are!! People love them. Especially if they come in a cute little purse made from a paper bag.

Restraint

Not much to do on a rainy day but, either cook or stamp. Today I am stamping.

While the comments didn't show it I took quite a beating for my "more is more" card posted on Feb 20th.

Well, I went back and made this card again. This time the card took me about 20 minutes not hours. It also shows quite a bit more restraint.

Look I didn't even "stage" the card. I think it speaks for itself. Simple elegance.

Do I have to use the dinosaur?

A few years back I was teaching a class and I made a card similar to this, using the Hero Arts Scary Dino stamp. There was one table that looked at the sample card and asked - "do we have to use the dinosaur?" For some reason I was completely taken aback. I know it because I got a bit testy and said "yeah ya have to use the dinosaur!" Well the table was taken aback too!

When I think back on that class I laugh and laugh. Why did I make them use the dinosaur- what difference would it have made?

But I did LOVE that card and the card today is an updated version of it using lots of stuff we didn't have then. Nestabilities, copic markers and of course lots of bling!!

Maybe if that table saw this card they would have been happy with it!

Is this too much?

It's not as if I don't have a stock of thank you cards at my fingertips. I had to make a new one. While I originally liked it, I am beginning to have second thoughts.

Is it too much? Maybe I shoulda left the butterfly off? I do like the white pencil on the kraft paper though.

Well, I will send it off and hopefully the person who gets it will like it.

Even though it is the 13th, today is the day I celebrate Valentine's day. All my cards are made, presents are bought and dinner is planned. I guess I am ready.

George loves the cuter cards so I couldn't resist the "Blowing Kisses" set from StampinUp.

Not Long Now....

Valentine's Day will soon be upon us. I usual cook a special meal on Valentine's Day for George and wait to go out to dinner another time. I asked him what special meal he wanted and he always asked for fettucini alfredo. Not only do I not like fettucini alfredo but it is so easy to make. I gotta make something a little labor intensive. It is a special holiday! Poor guy he isn't getting fettucini again this year.

Valentine's should be the same, labor intensive! It is a special holiday and it is for thse special folk in your life.

So I put the Memory Box stamps away and pulled out all my heart and love related stuff and have started to play!

More Memory Box Love

A breath of spring as well as Valentine's all rolled into one card. Here I am trying to use all the new MB stamps in one card. So forget being clean and simple!

I wasn't sure if I like this card but it is growing on me. It is nice to see a Valentine card that isn't red.

this card I posted in December before our puter crashed....

This was the $87.00 card that entered in the Paper Source Holiday card contest. Well as of last week I still hadn't heard anything about the contest. In fact I had kinda forgotten about it.

Last night I was on the puter and said to George I never heard from Paper Source about who won the contest. I no sooner said that when the phone rings. It is the corporate office of Paper Source in Chicago telling me I won the card contest! How weird is that?!!

So my $50.00 gift card will be sent to me, so I guess the card only cost me $37.00!

But hey it isn't about the money huh? We do it because we love stamping! We will spend just about anything to create that perfect card. Remember the early days when you thought making cards was going to save you money- boy were we suckers!!

More Valentine's

I was hoping to have more to show all of you, but I spent the last 2 days in bed (and in the BR) with a serious GI bug. I didn't think this was suppose to happen to a GI nurse. Shouldn't we be immune to that sorta thing? Colds, flus, eye infections yes but GI no way!

This card was for my class that obviously was cancelled this past weekend at One Little Spark in NJ. I have it rescheduled for Feb 12 at 12noon if any of you can make it.

This is my best attempt at clean and simple but we are still talkin' at least 2 layers.

until Valentines Day! Christmas is over we now have to concentrate on LOVE. Yes! Love is in the air! (yeah- you thought it was snow huh?)

Valentine's Day is the perfect answer to the creative doldrums I find myself in every Jan 2. This year it helped to have a BIG box from Memory Box come in the mail. All Dave's new stamps including Valentine's stamps.

This will just be the start of my Valentine cards. I hope you all will find something to inspire you.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Sorry for the long delay. We have had multiple computer problems since my last post. I have been forced to really learn to work on my lap top.

I am getting it together so hopefully I won't be so neglectful of all of you.

I just got back from a week in Denver. I was there for work training. Interestingly, while we were have 20 degree weather and snow, it was in the 60's with the wee bit of snow they had melting away. The Rockies are amazing. They loom up all around you. Unfortunately this is as close as I got to them. The one day we had to ourselves, my girlfriends and I went into Denver and enjoyed walking all over the city.

The people are so different, everyone is soooooo nice. Many folk seem to laugh and talk at the same time. Just about everyone we met was from some place else. One of the big selling points to moving to Colorado for me is..... ARCHIVERS!!!! Yep, just a few miles from the hotel was an Archivers. Naturally it was the first place I headed after arriving.

This is the Archiver's haul. I just stuck to stamps. The easiest to bring back on the plane. As you can see it was all the new Hero Arts stuff. When I am done with this post ya know what I will be doing.

I promise to post more frequent. After all Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

Skaaaaating Away......

StampinUp had these really cute skaters but unfortunately they were in a set and I wasn't crazy about the other stamps.

Boy was I happy when I saw almost the exact same skaters in Paper Source! I grabbed it and went home and made this card. I am using this "blueprint" quite a bit this season. I am diggin' the red and brown as I tend to stick to blue/teal and brown. George is gonna like this one!

The $87.00 Dollar Card

The Paper Source is having a holiday card contest. Soooooooo being the competitive person I am, I had to enter it.

Of course contest rules state you can only use Paper Source products. Soooooooo $87.00 dollars worth of PS stuff I came up with this card.

I think it is a winner. Sooooooo the prize you ask? A $50.00 gift certificate to Paper Source!!

Believe in the Poinsettia

Nothing says Christmas like a house full of poinsettia plants. I love them. I especially like the cream and pink ones. The above card reminds me of those poinsettias.

I tried to think a bit outside the box and went for a green poinsettia. What do you think?

Sing a Song of Christmas

It's time to really start concentrating on the Christmas season and card making. Over the next 20 odd days I will show you a variety of holiday cards.

This card features the Memory Box singing chicks. We are mixing up the classics with the whimsical.

*** new item alert the beads on the chicks hats were made with the new pearl pens by Viva Decor.

On the above card I stamped the music with Momento's London Fog Ink.

The below with black.

I liked the grey background, George liked the black. What do you think?

Now for Something Completely Different....

Since I have gotten a new stove in the past 3 weeks am back to my love before stamping - cooking! I actually used to teach cooking and did some catering.

One of the things I love about my new stove is the griddle in the center- along with the extra oven!

I thought I share with you all a quick photo recipe for "Toads in a Hole". I have always wanted to make this. I love "dip in'" eggs- ya know the over easy runny ones. TIH is like that only the toast is built in. I kick it up a notch by using cinnamon roll bread from Trader Joe's. I reminds me of my all time favorite decadent, one billion calorie breakfast- the McGriddler from McDonalds.

You start with:

Next throw a couple of pats of butter down on your hot griddle- or fry pan.

Put your bread down and get it nice and hot.

Now carefully pour unbroken egg into the center of each piece of bread.

Cook until egg is beginning to set, then carefully flip the toast and egg over. And cook until whites are done and yolk is still runny. This all takes about 3-4 minutes maybe.

Lastly for total decadence I added some grated pepper jack cheese for saltiness and kick.

I hope you enjoyed this wee change from the card making and I hope you try Toads in a Hole yourself!

I saw the first of many Hallmark Christmas movies last night. Poor George groaned and said "I guess this is what we will be watching for the next month!"

I love those sappy, pull on your heart strings Hallmark holiday movies. I can watch them over and over again. They always get me in the spirit just like my yearly tradition of making glitter balls.

Yes Virginia they are baaaaaack.......

George and I are invited to a Halloween party this evening and I can't go empty handed. A bottle of wine is always nice, especially if sports a cute little costume itself. This wine tag fits right around the top of the bottle and just covers the label. Naturally this tag is spooky, but you can create a wine tag for any occasion.

Howl at the Moon

Behind in my Wishes

Every year I make one of the docs I work with a birthday card. He actually has all my cards I have made over the last 10 years on display in his office! This year his birthday slipped past me and a month had gone by when I remembered. This seemed the perfect card to send to him.

The stamps are from a relatively new company out of Canada that has a very Magenta feel to their stamps by the name of the Artful Stamper. I just love using colored pencil on kraft paper.

Needless to say my Doc loved the card and forgave me being behind in my wishes!

Sooooooo George my sweet and adorable husband got me flowers for World Card Making day! Can ya believe that?!!

They were so beautiful- soft pinks and whites with a hint of red. I used these flowers as an inspiration for a thank you card for the DH.

The envelope of flowers is a very old StampinUp stamp that I have been wanting to use forever. To add the hint of red I added some punched butterflies.

I have been trying to create more interesting insides as well and continued the soft subtle pink through the inside of the card as well.

Witch is Cuter!

This wee owl witch from AMuse stamps is hands down cuter then any other witch in my book!

My friend Pat and I were talking the other day about how we never really considered Halloween a big holiday-let alone send cards out for it. But I am a convict- I mean convert to the whole spooky, creepy, ghostly Halloween thing. I have been having HUGE fun creating lots and lots of truly spooktacular and sometimes bloodcurdling cards this year. I started sharing in my last post and will continue throughout the Halloween season.

Both this card and the haunted hill card in my last post are among the cards I will be teaching at One Little Spark on Oct. 23 at 12:00.

Have a ghoulish day- I am off to clear the cobwebs and to create more Halloween cards!

Halloween in 90 Degrees!

It is kinda hard to think about Halloween when it is 90 degrees out, but I made this card when it was much cooler.

I thought I was the only one to think of this but I have seen it on other blogs. My "haunted houses" in this trifold card are the new ginger bread house set from AMuse. Some dark paper and black embossing and we have a spooktacular card.

I am looking forward to Sunday when the weather cools off again.

When I was taking some Memory Box classes a month ago I had an opportunity to chat with MB owner Dave Brethauer. He was surprised to see me in class and said-"Sue T. I didn't know you would be here. We have to talk." I responded "yeah Dave let's do that!"

During the break in classes Dave asked me to be a travel teacher as well as designer for Memory Box!! I could barely answer him I was so excited. Naturally the answer was yes!

Many of you know I tried out for the MB design team last year and didn't make it. It just goes to show, all good things come to those who wait.

Back to School

My grand niece starts first grade. Such a milestone in a child's life. I remember my first grade experience. My brother was in 6th grade when I started elementary school. Our school did not have a cafeteria so we ate lunch in the classroom. The first graders had lunch in the 6th graders room for some reason. I cried and cried till I got to eat my lunch at my brothers desk.

I picked up this stamp from MyFavoriteThings during a recent trip to Scraptasia. I paper pieced the little girl's skirt and sweater as well as the chalk board. the white pigment ink on the black card stock really looks like a chalk board.

I hope you all are enjoying the most beautiful weekend we have had in months. Spend time outside!

About a month ago Paper Source opened in Suburban Square in Ardmore. It is a fun and crafty store. They have a great selection of 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of card stock as well as lots of decorative papers. But guess what else they have- Yep Stamps!!!! They are carrying Hero Arts, Penny Black and they have their own line of stamps too. The lily of the valley note cards you see here were made with a stamp from the Paper Source.

The Paper Source offers paper crafting classes and they have a silhouette machine they can demo if you ask. I am so thinking about getting one!

The above cards were made with my Paper Source stamp and colored with copic markers and mounted on Memory Box paper

I Couldn't Resist

I know you all want to see stamping and stuff, but I just couldn't resist. George and I had to buy new chairs for the backyard and the beach this summer. The other two- oops I mean one when in the trash. We could not throw one chair away as our cat Winkie has made it his special spot. I had to make sure everyone knew it was his chair and didn't try and sit on it. That would have been a sight!

Winkie loves to hang on his chair when George and I are reading in the backyard. I have to say I never saw a cat do this. He only sits in his chair too. he knows which one is his. Animals are amazing!

Now Miss Pinkie wants her picture in the blog too. She is such a scaredy cat but likes to think she is tough. Here she is surveying her backyard kingdom.

The Perfect White Ink

Is there a perfect white ink? One that will stamp snow white on black paper and keep the detail?

This has been a constant search for me. As I just bought yet another white ink- this time Fresh Snow, a hybrid ink from Papertreyink, I decided to do a bit of a white ink challenge and see how they all stack up.

As you can see I selected what I consider the better inks on the market today. Here are the results.

The adorable ice cream cone stamp is from the "sweets and treats" set by Lizzie Anne. I love the paper pieced scoops on top of the cone.

Note Card Fever

At Little Spark where I teach, I have taken many classes where we made 3 1/2 X 5 inch cards. Note card size. I have been wanting to make some but didn't have any envis to go with them. While I was at Expedex I found they had the A1 size just perfect for my note cards.

These are the perfect size for just a small element. In this case the A Muse hippie vw bus. I also get to use up my scrap papers. Over the next few days I will share more samples.

Score Buddy Card

Hey All-

Boy do I love ya all. I just got home from work-yes it is 8:30 at night and all I really want to do is take a bath and go to bed. But first I wanted to share a thank you card I sent to Bevy B for buying me the new score buddy! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!. It fits right on my desk and I can score to my hearts content. Bevy B told me my cards have to have multiple folds from now on. So here ya go- a trifold card.

Real Men Like Butterflies!

Here is a card I made for a friend who got himself an awesome new job. I took a some what girly butterfly and gave it some testosterone!!

Hey what about the sewing! It sure isn't my strong point! The big butterflies are die cuts from Cuttlebug and the wee ones are from Martha Stewart. They are stamped with the grid stamp from Hero Arts and sponged with distress inks.

PUNCH CRAZY!

I got these 2 punches from Stampin'Up at my party that I had a few weeks ago. Needless to say they are my two favorite images, birds and owls. I have spent he last day just punching out pieces using tons of scrap paper.

The best part was putting all the pieces together!

I have lots of embellishments to just add to a card!!

Butterfly Kisses

I think by now everyone knows butterflies are the "new dragonflies". Butterflies are very hot right now and you will see them all over my work these days. They have to compete with my beloved birds.

I have picked up butterfly stamps from Memory Box, A Muse and lots of punches to create with.

I will be teaching a class at One Little Spark in Tuckerton NJ on June 26 featuring birds and butterflies.

to my great friends, Bevy B and Jude (aka the angel)! Both have birthdays a few days apart. Slacker that I am, they both got their cards after their big days. I like to think it was because I wanted them to see my cards alone and not with the big pile they both got on their actual birthday!! But the truth is I was just behind.

Desk Top Cards

Hey there everyone!

Sorry I missed a week. I was up in the Poconos and at the Heirloom Rubber Stamp convention in Allentown last weekend. Had a great time shopping and then spending quality time with the "angel" Judy stamping for the weekend. Jude spent the entire time playing with her letterpress from Quick kuts while I did what I like- make cards.

Here is an idea I came up with- I am sure someone has done it already, but I had a lot of fun with these.

I call them desk top card. Cards that sit on your desk with an inspirational message on the back.

All you need is an 4.25 inch X 11 inch paper. See the diagram for scoring.

Stamp Scrap Art Tour Haul

This was the big weekend in Oaks for the Stamp Scrap Art show! It is a small but packed jammed convention in our own back yard! While I want to tell everyone how great this show is another part of me wants to keep it a secret so it won't get as crowded and chaotic as Allentown can be.

I was excited beyond measure to see a stamp company that I thought had shut down it's vulcanizer. I first discovered Picture Show stamps when I was out at StampAway many years ago. I had bought a bunch of there stamps and then they just disappeared. It turns out the owner Ann just moved to Maryland and will be doing a few shows a year on the east coast.

Picture Show does not have web site, nor a blog. They don't take credit cards and they only do 2-3 shows a year. I asked Ann how can you make a living? She said they do OK and it is all word of mouth and mail order sales from a catty. Talk about old school!

Their style is across the board as you can see from some of stamps in the above picture. I went a little crazy I have to say. I bought lots and lots of unmounteds on Saturday and then dragged George back on Sunday for more. Unmounteds were very inexpensive at about $2.00-$4.00 each. They stamp beautifully. Ann told me to ink them with a brayer for the best impression, but I had no trouble just inking as I usually do.

Ann's husband tells me they are trying to get into Allentown. If you go check them out. There might be a few things left that I didn't buy !!

Scrap Box

How many of you have a scrap box? Ya know the one where you just throw in left over scraps of paper, stamped images ya didn't use but might, and embellishments. If you are a crafter no doubt you know what I am talkin' about.

I have a couple, but this one has been sitting next to my desk and I though instead of starting a whole new project I will use what is in my box and make a couple of cards.

Here are the results. Believe it or not the stamped images were in the box too!

I gotta say though I do see a lot of green in these cards. I have to go through that box again! It can't be all green in there!

That will be my next challenge to use my box an not have green or just a tiny bit on my next card.

While I am not Irish, I subscribe to the theory that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!

George is Irish though so he always gets a St. Patrick's Day card.

I found lots of really cute St. Patrick's Day stamps by Studio G for a dollar at AC Moore. So I had lots of fun playing.

So wear green and have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

Good Morning All!!

It is beginning to feel a bit more like spring!!

I have posted here my samples for my paint chip class at One Little Spark , next Saturday March 13 at 12:00.

I will be using all new stamps from Memory Box.

Where does all the time go!! 2 months and I haven't blogged. That just ain't right. Well I will try to be a better blogger folks.

I have probably lost all my following...

What's new you ask? Like most of you I spent much of my time with Valentine cards. Just the thing to get me out of my winter doldrums. If you can stand it after the fact I will post them here. Lots to show you. George got around 5 Valentine's this year. My Class at Little Spark was all Valentines too.

Remember even though Valentine's is over all these cards make good anniversary cards too.

Copic Cabana

Looky what Sue T. got for Christmas!! I have wanted Copic markers for a year now, but haven't spent the money cos' I wanted lots off them and was to impatient to buy them in 3's. What good is 3 greens when I really need 3 reds, blues, browns oranges, yellow.... you get the picture dontcha?

The last 2 presents opened were a full set of Copic markers!! George bought me all the A Muse recommended colors and Pat, Bevy B., Jude and Margarita rounded out the bunch with another 12!!

I have had so much fun playing and experimenting. I will definitely have to check out some online tutorials, but am happy with the results so far.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a set of these markers if you like to color like me. You will find they are really pretty fool proof.

I hope all of you have had a happy and blessed Christmas and that you all received the crafting presents of your dreams. Let me know what was your best Christmas present.
