The key to a boy's heart

This card should have had a snow plow on it, for all the snow we got on Saturday. It was so nice to just hunker down and watch it fall and not worry about going anywhere. While the snow is so pretty, I still can't wait for the 50 degree days expected at the end of the week.

Today starts a new challenge at Inky Paws. A challenge to help you get those Valentine cards done. we are looking for you to use heart(s) in your creations.

My card today features the "Love Quarry" by Newton's Nook. The heart hills are also from Newton's Nook. This CAS card was easy to make and you could make the same card and just add a different truck on each card. Great Valentine for that special; guy in your life or for the wee boys in your life. (what boy doesn't like a truck?)

Today's music inspiration is about trucks and love. The only folks that can do a love song about love and trucks are our country friends. So, here is Brad singing about "Mud on the Tires".

You have two weeks to share your heart at Inky Paws. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.
The deadline to enter today's challenge is  Friday February 11, 2021 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at  Inky Paws.

Be my meow-entine

Mornin" folks. Happy Monday! It's just another long weekend for this retired gal. I still have to think about which day of the week it is. LOL!!

Today is a reminder week that you have one more week to play along with our sketch challenge at Inky Paws. If you are stumped, turn the sketch on it's head. Maybe you will be inspired like me. I have to day I am partial to vertical cards. How about you? Vertical or horizontal? What's your preference?

I am getting started on my Valentine cards and this cute little feline was making me happy. My card today uses "Newton's Valentine". "Tumbling Hearts stencil" and, the "Frames and Flag" die set all from Newton's Nook.

Your musical inspiration is the most popular love song ever. Which is a very subjective thing, but this song was in the top ten if not number one on most play lists. Here it is! A shout out to Whitney.

You have the rest of the week to play along with our sketch challenge at Inky Paws. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.
The deadline to enter today's challenge is  Friday January 28, 2021 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Crafty cards

I love a good crafty card and I mean not a crafty made card, but a card about crafting! This card is going out to some one special. I send cards out for all the holidays, but this year my second goal was to send a random act of kindness card to someone each month also.

Today starts a new challenge at Cupcake Inspirations and we have a digital sponsor:

We are being sponsored by -

Prize: 3 digital stamps of the randomly drawn winner's choice

The challenge this week at Cupcake Inspiration is a soft pastelly color challenge.

In keeping with my first goal, to stamp the inside sentiment as soon as I am finished my card, here is the inside.

Little town

Like I said in this blog, kit is never too early to start on next year's holiday cards. I am continuing to play along at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

As you can see the theme is "little town". The perfect opportunity to use all those little house dies, that I have no idea who designed them. This card was inspired by a card I came across on the net and fit the brief for the  52 Christmas Card Throwdown perfectly.

I just notice d something that is off on my photograph. Can any of you see what it is?

You have till Friday evening to play along at 52 Christmas Throwdown. Check out what the DT has to inspire you.

Where have all the flowers gone...

I am writing this blog on Sunday night, and we are expecting some sort of winter storm. Much to my dismay, I sounds as though it will be a mostly rain event. I am looking forward to some massive snow storms, now that I do not have to go to work.

Winter leads to spring which leads to blooming flowers. I am channeling spring for my card for the new sketch challenge at Inky Paws.

My card features "Blooming Botanicals" and "Floral Roundabout" from Newton's Nook

In keeping with my New Year goal of stamping the inside of my card when I make it, here is look at the inside of my card.

Your musical inspiration is from Peter, Paul and Mary: "Where have all the flowers gone?" (They are all on my card!)

You have two weeks to play along with our sketch challenge at Inky Paws. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

A shiver of sharks

How is your year going so far everyone? Mine has been pretty much the same as the end of 2021. I am keeping a low profile with the Covid surge. The hospital systems in my area are struggling, between the patient load and staff out with Covid it's difficult. The medical folk continue to be the true heroes through all of this.

You have one more week to play along at Inky Paws for our color challenge. Candy red, white, brown, and grey.

Some of my favorite stamp sets from Newton's Nook are the shark sets. "Shark Frenzy" is a relatively new addition. A group of sharks can be called a "frenzy of sharks", but they can also she called a "shiver of sharks". I love that. My card also uses the waves stencil and tag die set all from Newton's Nook.

My crafting goal for this year is to stamp the inside of my cards as I make them. That way when I go to grab a card at the last minute, I am not scrambling to put the sentiment inside and perhaps I can make a fun inside like this. I challenge all of you who are like me to do the same.

I hope you all play along with our first challenge for 2022 at Inky Paws. You have one more week to play along. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.
The deadline to enter today's challenge is  Friday January 14, 2021 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Latte a lot

Yay!! Today is the first challenge for 2022 over at Cupcake Inspirations!! The challenge where a delicious cupcake will inspire your creations.

Today's challenge is always a crowd fav. Coffee-tea time. Which are you? Coffee or tea? Me? I am a tea drinker. It is what gets my heart started in the morning and it is how I end my day. I probably drink 3-4 cups a day. But, I do love the occasional latte from Starbucks. To me that is a treat.

My card features a really old stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I don't know the name and I am sure it is no longer available. Of all my coffee sets, this is one of my favorites. I   like the size of the latte stamp. The sentiment is Simon Says Stamp- "Like You Words". I used the "tumbling hearts" stencil from Newton's Nook to emboss the background.

How about some musical inspiration? I love this fun song by Kelsey Musgraves.

You have two weeks to play along with out "coffee-tea time" challenge at Cupcake Inspirations.  Also, check out our CI FB page and join if you haven't already.

Snow Much

Happy New Year  everyone! Here's to 2022 being an improvement over 2021! I don't know about you all, but every year after the holidays I find myself in a crafting rut. The holidays just suck the creativity out of me. It takes a few weeks to get my mojo back.

Today starts the first challenge for 2022 at Inky Paws. This is a great color challenge, guaranteed to help you get your mojo back! We are looking for you to use candy red, white, brown, and grey in your creations.

My card today uses the "Snowman Roundabout" stamp set and the Plaid stencil set,  both from Newton's Nook. Don't the challenge colors work perfectly with this stamp set and stencil?

How about some musical inspiration to start out the new year right.
