Seas the day

The dog days of summer upon us. It's time to celebrate them by joining in the "summer theme" challenge at Inky Paws

I bought "Tranquil tides" from Newton's Nook last summer.  All I have to say there is nothing about this hot and steamy card with all those crabs!! LOL!!

As this blog posts, I am at Bethany beach enjoying sun, waves, and surf.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our summer theme challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is this Friday, August 9, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Sunshine and Blooms

Hey everyone! Are you all experiencing the crazy heat that we are in Pa.? My studio is not air-conditioned and my husband once bought one for my birthday. I made him send it back. I like my windows open with fresh air coming in, even if it is hot air. I have a nice fan set up and that works just fine.

Today's card is a reminder that there is still time to play along with the  Inky Paws sketch challenge.

"Floral Fringe" is fast becoming one of my fav Newton Nook sets and paired with the awesome ladies from NN's "Loads of Blooms".

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our sketch challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

Crafty girl!

Well its about 95 degrees in my studio, but I have a huge fan blowing on me, so I am good right now and have gotten in some crafting before it gets too terrible. Word has it the heat is suppose to break tomorrow. Hope that is true.

I finished a burthdaycard for my brother and then decided to check out some challenges. Among my new favs is CAS(E) this Sketch. I love theirclean and simple sketches that allow alot of room for creative interpretation.

This sketch did have me a bit stumped until I saw a tube of washi tape sitting on my desk. The original intent was just to use the washi tape and a sentiment. But that was too barren even for this CAS gal.

I pulled out a new stamp set from Heffy Doodle called "Superdudes"  and Inky Antics has a fun sentiment set called "Crafty Comments", both which work great together. Of course this card was done in shades of green- the most beautiful color in the world!

Just prance

Well this a first for me,  a holiday card in July! I never start them before November. AAA Cards is hosting a cool challenge to leave lots of white space with a twist for a Christmas card.

I had to dig out my holiday stamps and then find a set I wanted to play with. I decided to go with Clearly Besotted's "Let's Prance". I could just picture a reindeer flying across the top of my card.

I kept it very simple making it a one layer card.

A little stickles later and this CAS white space dominant card was done.

Believe

I have been so behind with the unicorn rage. I didn't own any unicorn stamps. Now all of a sudden I decided yes. I have to jump on the carousel and ride a unicorn. There are a gazillion unicorn stamp sets out there, and the one I got was from Newton's Nook- "Believe in Unicorns". It is adorable.
Inky Paws  is having a sketch challenge this week and I immediately decided to get my new unicorn set inky. I used the pattern paper as my coloring guide. Of course what is a unicorn with out a sparkly mane, tail and horn!!

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our sketch challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

Five weeks in a balloon

The challenge over at The Library Challenge is hosted by visiting librarian, Martina. She chose "Five Weeks in a Balloon" by Jules Verne. I gotta say I never read this book, but I am pretty sure I saw the movie as a kid.

But the idea of a ride in a hot air balloon does sound awesome- but.....five weeks not so much!!

I don't have many hot air balloons, but I do have this cute one from Lawn Fawn. So I pulled it out and started playing around. After tossing a few cards in the trash, I came up with this idea. It appeals to my CAS heart.

up, up, and away....

Hey everyone! I hope you are enjoying a great summer. It has been quite hot here in Pa. but it's summer- right? It is supposedtobe hot. Newton decided to get away and his mode of transportation? Hot air balloons of course.

There is still another week to play along at the color challenge at Inky Paws. Red, pink, lime, and light brown. Great summery colors.

I went with bolder colors than last week's post. After all Newton is bold kinda cat. Only newton would travel with balloons!

I used Newton's Nook "Newton's Birthday Balloons" and to create a bigger bunch of ballons, I used NN's balloons stencil and traced balloons with a sharpie to fill out the bunch.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our rainbow challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is this Friday, July 12, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

just floatin'

Who said cats don't like water? Clearly, Newton loves the water. He is just hanging out, floatin'.

This card was inspired by the new challenge at CAS(E) this sketch. I have to say this one had me stumped at first. But I went through my stamps and while I was checking them out this idea came to me.

All the supplies for this card are from Newton's Nook. Head on over to  CAS(E) this sketch and see what the DT has to inspire you. Join in the fun!

berry much, thank you!

Oh those  small sweet, sweet strawberries! Have you ever noticed that the sweetest berries are the tiny ones, not those supersized genitically modified ones.

Today's card is inspired by- yes the Inspired By challenge. Another new one to me. I am thanking Michelle at "I Card Everyone" for turning me on to some cool new challenges.

I had to dig deep into my stamp stash to find a strawberry stamp. I found the very first Papertrey Ink set I ever bought. "Green Thumb". Gotta be about a 100 years ago!! Needless to say, it is no longer available.

I kept my card super simple. I loved the rows of berries. Very clean and graphic. Ardyth would be proud!

Head over to Inspired By and check what the DT has come up with and play along.

Blue birthday fishes

When you think of July- I think of July 4th, and of course my birthday, but I also think of hot sunny days at the beach, sunning and swimming. Not sure if I would want to run into these guys while jumping waves!

This month's color challenge at The Rainbow Card Challenge is blue. Blue is a good one. Blue seems to go with just about every other color in the rainbow, but this month we want you to showcase blue.
This really should be a no brainer, so I hope to see lots of participation. Who doesn't like blue.

I have had these funny little fish for years, but rarely used them because I didn't have those "fishy" sentiments to go with them. Waffle Flower came out with the perfect set and these snappy fishes have been getting a work out!

Today's music inspiration was tough. There are lots of great songs with the color blue in them. I went with an old fav. Blue Moon. Blue Moon has been done by lots of folks, but today I am featuring the Marcels version.

Join us at The Rainbow Card Challenge for this blue challenge!! You have the month of July to create your most awesome blue cards!!
