Birthday Fishes

Yay!! It's Friday, but it isn't any Friday It's time for a new challenge at CAS on Friday!! And this one is special to me because I am hosting.

When I was deciding what theme I wanted for my challenge, I thought "ya know, everyone loves cute little land critters, but what about all those fun and cute critters from under the sea?. they need to be shown some love too."

So today's challenge at CAS on Friday is:

UNDER THE SEA

My card uses well inked stamped set by Avery Elle called "That Bites". Unfortunately it is no longer available. To really make the card fun, I added googly eyes to each little  fishy.

You have two weeks to play along and show those under the sea creatures some love and support my challenge at CAS on Friday!!

Seas the Day!

I just want to let you all know there is still a week left to play along in our bold and summery color challenge at Inky Paws!
Yes, I know that sea scenes are generally associated with soothing and peaceful blues and greens, but hey why not "seas the day" and go bright, bold, and hot!  Why not use red, pink, orange, and yellow!!

Today's card features "Tranquil Tides" from Newton"Nook. My card is anything but tranquil, huh?

I hope you join us for this summery color challenge at Inky Paws! You have two weeks to play along at Inky Paws!  We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is this Friday July 31, 2020 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

That bites!

This weekend has been all about stamping with a few meals thrown in. Today's card is in responce to a few challenges. And I know it is hard to believe, but this CAS card took me all day to make. Originally I had three fish, way to many. Then trying to find an fun and appropriate sentiment. Why don't I have a "birthday fishes" greeting. Does anyone know where I can find one?

The challenge at Less is More is to use yellow and grey. I have never found these colors particularly appealing, but one of my staff is having twins and these are the colors she chose for the babies' room. So I am practicing.

Next I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch. I have to say I don't mind the yellow and grey so much on this card.

Lastly, because it all fit I am entering, the photo challenge over at  Addicted to Stamps and More

Well this as been a fabulously creative weekend in my studio. Please check out these great challenges too!!

Birthday fishes

I have been out of commission for the last several days, school, work and life just kinda took over. Soooo today, I had a wee bit of time on my hands and decided to play along with the new Male Room Challenge . The theme this week is "under water".  Naturally one thinks of the sea, fish etc.

I have to confess I went that route also, but alas I had very few "under water" type stamps. I had to think outside the box for this card.

The water is from Simon Says Stamp's Flower Friend Set and the fish dies are a very old Spellbinder die set. The saying is made from an unknown alphabet set that a friend of mine was getting rid of. The thing that makes me the happiest with this card are the bubbles- I hole punched them and simply used the white card base to make them pop.

I can't wait to see what others make. I am entering this in the DT call. Here's hoping.

Summer Card Camp Week 1, Day 5 Inspiration

I got up early and caught up on day 5 at Summer Card Camp 2.  While Jennifer's card technique was cool (I will try it soon) it was Kristina's card with the embossed acetate window that caught my eye. i used one of the new color combos suggested, not ones I usually work with.

You know me, I just love acetate and I have embossed it before, but never as a window. The card was a bit time consuming but so worth it. A CAS card that takes time. I used an old spellbinder's fish die and die cut them using polka dot paper. I just love polka dots and over at CAS-ual Fridays they are featuring polka dots for this week's challenge.

Don't you love how the acetate is embossed with swirls just like ocean waves? The fish are swing around in the ocean with a backdrop of aqua polka dot paper. The base card is embossed to represent the bubbles fish blow in the water.

Other challenges that I am entering this in are: Just Add Ink- featuring cards using water literally or as an inspiration, Addicted to CAS, featuring water as the inspiration, and Crazy 4 Challenges, featuring marine life.

I wished I had one of those cute little fish sayings like Happy Birthday Fishes so I had to be content with "don't forget to have some fun today".

I apologize for the not so perfect photos- just one of those crazy lighting days.

Have a great weekend!

Trio of Fishies

I just love these down-staff days! I don't have anything planned, no school work, cleaning, shopping etc. etc. It is a day just for myself! So when Mr. George asked me what I was gonna do today I said stamp!!

I went through all the challenges and the fish challenge at CAS I thought great!! Unfortunately that challenge was over- boo hoo :(.  But CASE this sketch came through!! I loved their sketch this week and used my fish anyway. (from Rubber Soul- a give away from my friend who was downsizing her stamp collection)

Here is this week's sketch:

It is a warm summer day here in Pennsylvania and I sure wouldn't mind being a fish and be swimming in a nice cool ocean. Just taking it easy and breathing.
