outta this world

Hey there everyone!! It's time for another new challenge at Inky Paws!! We have a fun sketch challenge for you.

I was sharing with my team mates that sketch challenge can be difficult for me. My left brain takes over and I have the tendency to follow them exactly. it is difficult for me to think outside the box.

Today's card is no exception. I followed the rules and stayed within the lines. But  still like the results.
I went with Cosmic Newton and the starfield stencil for my card. As I have said before it's the little touches that make the biggest impact on a card.

Notice how I stamped Newton's head on a seperate piece of paper and cut it out and foam mounted and covered the whole thing with glossy accents to make it look like the glass on his helmut. I did the same with accent pice on his space suit. The moon is just a die cut circle that I attempted to color like the real thing. I finished the card off with just a few sequins to add shine.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in sketch challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday, March 8, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

comfort zone

We all have a comfort zone when it comes to creating. I like a clean and simple look using my copic markers. As I was pulling out various stamp sets for consideration in creating my reminder card for the color challenge at Inky Paws, somehow  "cottage garden" was stuck in the middle of the 3 or 4 Newton sets I had pulled.
It must have been devine providence. Because looking at the stamp set I immediately decided on the card I was going to make. I stamped the images with a very light gray ink and dusted off my colored pencils for a bit of very easy no line coloring. While it's not perfect I did like the softness of the images.

The card turned out well enough that I will try this technique again soon.

Easy Peasy, clean and simple

Well, not only have I been on a roll makingValentine cards, but I have been blogging about them also! Today's trio of cards are forthe ladies I work with. Yesterday's post featured cards for the guys I work wth.

This was a very easy peasy clean and simple card. I came up with the basic sketch and just changed the focal element on each card. The cards used two new sets from Reverse Confetti- "heart pals" and "patterned hearts". I also used the cute hedgehog from Penny Black's "furry hugs".  I was able to make 20 of these cards easily.

If you haven't started your Valentine's, copy my sketch and get started. You will be able to create your cards easy peasy!!

Go with your heart

I don't know about you, but by the time Christmas is done, my mojo just disappears. It takes awhile for it to return and each year I think how am I ever going to create my Valentine cards. What do you all to get your mojo back? For me it was looking at pinterest, buying some new stamps always helps and of course pushing myself by entering a challenge.

My card today is for my special guy, George. he loves any cards with teddy bears on them. Where did he come from??!!? Really??!!? Teddies??!!? Ya just gotta love a guy who loves teddy bears!!

I am entering this card to The Male Room. The theme this week is "love your man". Well, I sure love my man!! For my card, I used Newton's Nook's "Winston takes flight". The trail of hearts is a very old Hero Arts stamp- back when there was only wood stamps!! LOL !!! The sentiment is from Mama Elephant's "sight seeing".

The Card Concept is hosting a "love in in the air" challenge. Come on I would be foolish not to enter!!

I made a very similar card for the male nurses on my staff.  I used the airplane from Lawn Fawn's "bon voyage".   It's always a challenge to create a Valentine card for a guys who aren't your "special someone".

Check out the challenge over at The Male Room. There is still time to play along.

Jaws

How many remember seeing the original Jaws circa 1975 in the movie theater? It was so scary.

Here is a clip of the trailer from the original. My card today is a bit less scary....I mean how can you be frightened of a pink shark?

The challenge over at Inky Paws today is a great color challenge. You can't go wrong with pink, grey, white, and black.

I used Newton's Nook's "shark bites" for my card today. while you might think sharks wou;d only be for guys, lots of gals like sharks too and this card will be going to someone special.

Just my type

Hi everyone! Only eleven days till the heart day!! I am busy making lots of Valentine's for staff and friends. I took some time to make a card for George. He usually gets cute cards with critters, but I had to play with a new stamp set from Newton's Nook- "My Type". I love how if you don't ink the top of the paper on the stamp you can extend the paper to whatever sze you need. I extended it and rolled it to look like it was rolling out of the typewriter.
This card was not only for George but for the Love/Valentine challenge at Inky Paws . Along with Newton's Nook- "My Type" I used the "tumbling hearts" stencil from Newton's Nook.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our lovely theme challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday, February 8, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Orange- love it or hate it

Orange seems to get a bad wrap. Folks either love it or hate it. I happen to love it. It is bright happy color that doesn't apologize for itself. It plays nice inn the sandbox with other colrs such as blue, red, and yellow. Blue and orange is a favorite color combo of mine. So striking.

Diana of the blog-"that creative feeling" posts an article called "Ode to Orange, a color we love to hate". Check it out.

This month's challenge at the Rainbow Card Challenge is "orange opulence". We are asking you to put all your negative feelings if you have them about orange and embrace it. Create an orange forward card.

When deciding on a direction for my card this month, I immediately grabbed "Beautiful Butterflies" from My Favorite Things. I haven't played with it much. This was the perfect challenge to show it some inky love.

I stamped the butterflies with a variety of orange inks from Altenew. I stamped the sentiment and then die cut the butterflies and used foam tape to raise them. I know this technique has a name but I am at a loss. I am sure Jennifer Maguire has shown us this technique.

So now it's time to dust off your orange inks and show them some love and create an orange card. Be sure to link it up to  the Rainbow Card Challenge. You have all month to play along!
