May showers bring June flowers?

Yesterday was a free day for me. I spent it with my bestie stamping. The fun thing about stamping with a buddy is you get to use their stuff!! I "borrowed" her Altenew Botanical Gardens set. I stamped every darn piece and embossed with gold and watercolored the images with bright sunshiney colors. I then die cut the images and had fun placing them in a pleasing design.

playing with placement

My buddy Pat looked at the finished card and laughed. She said that is soooo not you. Where did this come from? She is right. I am more CAS and whimsical. This classic and elegant creation my have come from an alter ego.

We have had so much rain this May that I am hoping it will bring June flowers. Because of that I am entering this card the Time Out challenge.  The there is: 'May All your weeds be wild flowers'.

I am also entering this card at The Card Concept .

Sunshine brings flowers and my flowers are sunshiny colors, so why not enter this classy and elegant card!

Done playing, time to get back to work! The pharmacology and pathophysiology of reflux and Barrett's esophagus. Woo hoo!!

Stamping just for fun

I finished my brutal research class and had three weeks off before I started back. I did what any self-respecting papercrafter would do with that much time on her hands- I STAMPED!!!! I stamped JUST FOR FUN!!! I didn't stamp for any of my DT blogs ( stepped down from just about all of them), I didn't make any required  BD or other required cards, I stamped just because I could!

Usually I have a specific challenge to meet, so I was a bit at a loss as to what to do. A quick perusal of Pinterest helped and got my juices flowing.

Today's card was built around one of my favorite sentiments from this Penny Black set. I used it a lot. It always goes well with a flowery card.

I added flowers from Hero Arts Lia Griffith mini set. The set included a cute little bird, who perched perfectly on top of the word "hope".

Because I have time, I can enter some challenges. something I haven't done for awhile. Addicted to Stamps and More has a clean and simple challenge. My favorite kind of challenge. Not only that, but they are having a DT call. Maybe at another time I might have thrown my hat in the ring, but life is just a wee bit to busy for structured stamping. But hey maybe one of you will go for it!! My buddy Kylie runs this challenge. I designed for her at Happy Little Stampers. She is a gem to work under. Be sure to check out her stamp company with the same name.

Hope you enjoyed my stamping just for the heck of it! Hope to be back with some more inspiration!

Showing off

Some exciting news to share. Our health system really goes all out for Nurses' week and National Hospital week, both of which are back to back. One of the events this year is an employee art show. Employees could submit art work to be chosen to be displayed. Encouraged by two of my fav artist physicians, I submitted some of my mixed media art. I didn't think the art committee would pick it as it is rather different than the art usually shown. One most of it cannot be hung on the wall. Fearing that just openly displaying it would encourage those with sticky fingers, it was all displayed in a sturdy acrylic case.

Last Monday, there was a "meet the artists" reception. It was fun telling folks that I was "the artist" who created these works. I received lots of compliments. Several folks asked me if I sell my work. Another asked if I would take part in a craft show/fair. It was all sooooo exciting!

Throughout the past week, various people I work with have come up to me at work saying they didn't know I was such an artist. Makes me chuckle.

Everything will be on display for the next 2 months and the organizer for the event told me they would like to build a larger case for my work for next years event!

The Male Room Challenge #35: Transport

Today is rather bittersweet, it is my last challenge for The Male Room. I am stepping down as a designer because of work and school commitments. Unfortunately, life does get in the way of things sometimes.

I hope that every now and again I can play along just like all of you. So before I get too sappy, lets talk about this weeks challenge. The Male Room is asking us to "transport". Lucky for me, My best buddy shared a new StampinUp set with this cool Volkswagen beetle. I added the pup from another set. I coulda swore there was a stamp of a girl, but I couldn't find it to save my life.

I think the sentiment says it all- "life is a beautiful ride" and my last year with the folks here at The Male Room has been just that. What an awesome crew!

So I hope that you will play along with us and show us how you transport!

House of Cards May Challenge: Clear Papers

Hi everyone! Happy May Day!! Where is the sun, where is the warm springy weather, and where are my spring flowers! Instead we still have April showers.

The challenge this month at House of Cards is using clear papers such as vellum or acetate.

This is a very timely challenge because the Online Card Classes are featuring a class just on these papers called "Clear and Sheer". If you are having any trouble with this challenge be sure to check out this  awesome class.

My card is made to inspire to chase away the clouds and encourage the sun to return.

I embossed my acetate with a cloud embossing folder and added the strip of die cut flowers. The clouds match up to the cloud embossed base card also.

I did not put a sentiment on it yet, cos' I am not sure how I will use this card. I am thinking t might make a nice sympathy card.

This card looks really cool with some lamp light. You get these really cool shadows.

How fun huh. For another inspiration card, check this blog posting, where I practiced what I learned in the Clear and Sheer class.

Let's see what you can show us! Come and join in the fun this month at The House of Cards!
