Tangle Tuesday

Welcome to Tangle Tuesday! Last week was a week playing and trying some new things. I started by just mixing watercolor on each tile and then tangling over the shapes. I kept the tangling simple to not lose the shapes and to highlight them. Some I like better than others, but it was a fun experiment.

Time to celebrate

How many of us love to use watercolors in our crafting? I do and if you are like me you have tons of watercolors. I have all kinds, tubes, pan, pencils, and peerless, paper watercolors.

These are just a few of my watercolor sets. The set in the lower left is at least 50 years old, and is most beloved set of watercolors.

The new challenge at Inky Paws is to use watercolors. If you don't have any watercolors, remember many of your inks when swiped on an acrylic block can be picked up with a brush and water. Distress inks are perfect for this. But I think most of you are like me and have at least on set of watercolors.

My card today uses Newton's Nooks  "Newton's Birthday Balloons" and NN birthday balloon stencil. Using pixie spray to adhere the stencil to watercolor paper. I then sprayed water color onto the stencil and carefully lifted the stencil away and added watercolor to the puddles of water that were the balloons. A fun technique that is rather forgiving.

I hope you will did out your favorite watercolors and join us for our watercolor challenge at Inky Paws.  We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.
The deadline to enter today's challenge is  Friday, February 26, 2021 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Spooky Street

Hey there everyone!! Hope you all had a great weekend! I did, if you count banging away at my thesis fun. It's not that bad, I am moving along and am about 1/3 to 1/2 done. Working on the hard part, the nursing theory. Anyone out there an expert at the Theory of Integral Nursing? It is pretty deep.

This is week 2 over at Inky Paws. They are having a color challenge. Lime green, yellow, orange and purple. Definately weener colors.

So I needed a bit of fun, so I got out my color bursts and played around. The color bursts have the BEST purple out of the 10 or so water color sets I have. Just look at the panel, isn't that the best purple you ever saw?

For todays card I used Newton's Perfect Pumpkin and Spooky Street. I colored evrything in with copics and put it all together.

Head onto over to Inky Paws and join in this fun sketch challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday October 12, 2018, at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

That's a wrap..... back to integral theories.

Classic Peonies

Generally, I am a whimisical and cute kinda girl. So, a classy card is a leap for me. The "peony blooms set" from Newton's Nook makes classy easy.

The new challenge at Inky Paws is a color challenge.

Look at these bright summery colors! Fushia, orange, yellow and turquoise. These are happy colors that make me smile.

For my card today.  I pulled out my zig clean color pens. I tend to forget about them. Using cold press water color paper I created a watercolor wash with my zig pens using water to spread the colors around. I let the piece dry and I stamped the peony bloom.

I die cut the peonies and layered them onto a tag  die cut from "fancy edges tag die set".  I layered the tag onto an embossed "framework die set". I kept the base of the card all white so the peonies would pop. A good tip for all of you stampers.

Head onto over to Inky Paws and join in this fun color challenge. We will cose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. We will highlight our favorite entries from each challenge the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday August 3, 2018, at MN CST. the winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Bootastic

I am so happy my mojo is back. You can't get me out of my studio! Today's card was inspired by two challenges. Addicted to CAS has "monster" of a theme and Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers (a new challenge for me) ask us to watercolor!

My watercolor panel was created with Ken Oliver's colorbursts.  The purple is the best purple in watercolors I have ever seen! I created several of these cards using this stamp set from Mama Elephant. The grave yard background was from this Newton's Nook stamp set.

Of all the "weeners" in the "Bootastic" stamp set, the mummy monster is my fav.

I have been trying to stamp the inside of my cards as I make them. I usually leave them blank and then I am at the eleventh hour quickly stamping a sentiment on the inside.

I took the time and stamp a fun "inside"

So beware, it's mischief night tonight! Just stay in and stamp!

Miracles

I truly believe in miracles. For one thing how can you not wake up in the morning and find the dawning of a new day a miracle. I am celebrating a small but long prayed for miracle today. For those who know me or have followed my blog, you all know that my muse is Pinkie my sweet calico kitty. She spends her days hanging with me in my studio inspiring me to create.

Poor Pinks has been pretty sick over the last month or so. Not unexpected I suppose in a 16 year old girl. She has been quite a trooper through, hospilizations, IVs, sticks, xrays etc etc. She is on multiple medications and the poor thing has been not eating and losing weight.

Yesterday morning after yet another visit to the vet, a small miracle happened and Miss Pinkie woke me up asking for food. She scarfed down a small bowl and cooperatively took her meds.  I tried not be to excited until I awoke this morning and she was waiting for me in the studio asking to eat. She is now a member of the clean bowl club!

In honor of this small miracle, I created this card using a fav sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

I die cut an old die from Memory Box and lightly traced the flowers onto the water color paper. I then just created a watercolor wash just trying to stay within the confines of the image. When I was happy with the water-coloring, I adhered the  die cut and stamped the sentiment.

I am submitting this card to three challenges:

My old teamies at Just Us Girls are hosting a watercolor challenge:

Muse has a card by Tracy McNeely.  Her colors and flowery card inspired mine:

I hope you all find miracles every day!

May showers bring June flowers?

Yesterday was a free day for me. I spent it with my bestie stamping. The fun thing about stamping with a buddy is you get to use their stuff!! I "borrowed" her Altenew Botanical Gardens set. I stamped every darn piece and embossed with gold and watercolored the images with bright sunshiney colors. I then die cut the images and had fun placing them in a pleasing design.

playing with placement

My buddy Pat looked at the finished card and laughed. She said that is soooo not you. Where did this come from? She is right. I am more CAS and whimsical. This classic and elegant creation my have come from an alter ego.

We have had so much rain this May that I am hoping it will bring June flowers. Because of that I am entering this card the Time Out challenge.  The there is: 'May All your weeds be wild flowers'.

I am also entering this card at The Card Concept .

Sunshine brings flowers and my flowers are sunshiny colors, so why not enter this classy and elegant card!

Done playing, time to get back to work! The pharmacology and pathophysiology of reflux and Barrett's esophagus. Woo hoo!!

The Male Room Challenge #19

What is black and white and read all over? Do you remember that silly riddle? If you do, you are showing your age. I thought that was the funniest joke only a million years ago when I was about seven.

The answer? Why a newspaper of course. ( I did kinda give it away. The riddle is better not "red")
That is the challenge today over at the Male Room.

Use newsprint on your project. You can barely get a newspaper these days. Most news is online. I grabbed a left over newspaper from our waiting room because, I haven't read a paper in years.

My card is using another adorable pet stamp set. This one is "furry friends" from Avery Elle. I mean just look at that face..... isn't he the cutest. He reminds me of my pupper Cubby. Anyway this guy just wants to please his owner by bringing in the paper.

I added a bit of watercolor wash and a newsprint stamp from Hero Arts to complete this oh so sweet card.

Ok, now it's your turn to dig up a newspaper or a newspaper stamp and enter the challenge over at the Male Room. I can't wait to see what you create!
