A clowder of cats

How are you all enjoying the cat challenge at Cupcake Inspirations? I love cats and have a gazillion cat stamps, so I am have an awesome time with this challenge.

You have one more week to get your meow on Cupcake Inspirations!!

I wish I could tell you who made this fun and festive clowder of cats  stamp. ( Yes, that is what a group of cats are called) It's an unmarked stamp in my stash. If any of you know, please let me know in the comment section. It sure was fun to color in. This card was going to be for our last challenge #512, until I realized we were using sponsor images for the challenge. I saved this card knowing the cat challenge was coming up and I would still have the opportunity to use it.

You have one more week to meow and purr at Cupcake Inspirations and our feline good cat challenge!

Time to celebrate

How many of us love to use watercolors in our crafting? I do and if you are like me you have tons of watercolors. I have all kinds, tubes, pan, pencils, and peerless, paper watercolors.

These are just a few of my watercolor sets. The set in the lower left is at least 50 years old, and is most beloved set of watercolors.

The new challenge at Inky Paws is to use watercolors. If you don't have any watercolors, remember many of your inks when swiped on an acrylic block can be picked up with a brush and water. Distress inks are perfect for this. But I think most of you are like me and have at least on set of watercolors.

My card today uses Newton's Nooks  "Newton's Birthday Balloons" and NN birthday balloon stencil. Using pixie spray to adhere the stencil to watercolor paper. I then sprayed water color onto the stencil and carefully lifted the stencil away and added watercolor to the puddles of water that were the balloons. A fun technique that is rather forgiving.

I hope you will did out your favorite watercolors and join us for our watercolor challenge at Inky Paws.  We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.
The deadline to enter today's challenge is  Friday, February 26, 2021 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Party till the cows come home

Happy Monday all. Wooooh....... I am exhausted after all the festivities from our 500th birthday challenge at Cupcake Inspirations during the last two weeks. I hope you were able to check out all the sponsors, inspiration and prizes. It was an awesome party.  But as the saying goes, "there is no rest for the weary". It is time for our new challenge at CI.

This one had me a bit stumped and required some retail therapy! So off shopping I went. I saw this adorable cow set from Newton's Nook. Bingo into my shopping cart.

As a kid we often took family drives on a Sunday afternoon. I always counted batches of cow. I guess I didn't know that it was a herd of cows. I could never count the same batch twice. If I recall I was in the 30's when I just stopped counting.

You have two weeks to play along with our "on the Farm" challenge at Cupcake Inspirations.

Another birthday card

Thursday..... one more day till Friday...... almost the weekend...... yipee!!!! With the restructuring of our unit because of Covid, I now work 5 days in a row, where I used to work 4 days. That extra day is a killer for me. WAAAAAAA I want my old life back!! Something I think that I am not alone in thinking.

Today is a special Thursday because a new challenge comes out at Cardz 4 Galz. This is a special challenge because it is my choice. The theme is:

BIRTHDAYS

One can never have enough birthday cards. At least that is what I think. But hey what do I know? Maybe you don't agree, but I have an inkling (haha pun intended) that you do know what I mean.

Today's card uses "let's celebrate" from Paper Smooches and "stop, drop, party" from Simon Says Stamp.  Pink and green make me happy! Two of my favorite colors. Some yellow for contrast, some bling and this CAS card is complete.

Come and join us at my birthday theme challenge at Cardz 4 Galz . You have two weeks to enter the fun!

Happy Heart Day!

Happy heart day everyone!! I have a last Valentine to share with all of you. This one is very special and I know George is gonna flip over it. It features the quintessential teddy bear on it. This is an oldie but goodie, wood- yes wood stamp from Penny Black. The stamp dates back to 2006!!!

I am submitting this card to a few challenges.

And Shopping Our Stash featuring "my heart on fire". Not there is anything really firey about my card except my love for my guy and his love of teddies.

Hope you have all your love created and spread around. I heading off to share my love with George!!

up, up, and away....

Hey everyone! I hope you are enjoying a great summer. It has been quite hot here in Pa. but it's summer- right? It is supposedtobe hot. Newton decided to get away and his mode of transportation? Hot air balloons of course.

There is still another week to play along at the color challenge at Inky Paws. Red, pink, lime, and light brown. Great summery colors.

I went with bolder colors than last week's post. After all Newton is bold kinda cat. Only newton would travel with balloons!

I used Newton's Nook "Newton's Birthday Balloons" and to create a bigger bunch of ballons, I used NN's balloons stencil and traced balloons with a sharpie to fill out the bunch.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our rainbow challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is this Friday, July 12, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Woohoo!! Play Time!!!

School is over, well at least this challenging and stressful  class is over. I handed in my final research paper last night.

To celebrate, I binged on the new online card class "Clean and Sheer". Kristina  and Jennifer and others were sharing tips and techniques for working with vellum or acetate.

Jennifer's videos on embossing with vellum and acetate was way cool, so that is what I tried my hand at.

I did many of the elements she shared with us, but on the inside I die cut and embossed the balloon with the same Cuttlebug happy birthday folder and attached it inside so it matched up with the outside. Jennifer showed us how to add color to the embossed vellum/acetate images, but I decided to color the embossed balloon and let it show through subtlety.

There were some very cool techniques other than these that you must check out.

Wish Big!!

I have a couple of birthdays coming up. A guy and a girl. I didn't want to reinvent the wheel so I put my thinking cap on and took a gander at challenges this week and both Just Us Girls and Less is More had the inspiration I needed to get  the job done.

Just Us Girls  had a trend week challenge and what is more trendy than balloons. Here is a trend that I am actually on point with! I have tons of balloon stamps and dies!

The gang over at Less is More is having a OLC challenge and the key word is "wishing".

Well these two challenges fit together like peanut butter and jelly, tomato soup and grill cheese, bacon and eggs- geez I must be hungry!

For my one layer card, I made a stencil from the largest balloon in the Simon Says Stamp die set using masking paper. I sponged the base yellow color in and then layers a polka dot stencil over the balloon and sponged in the red dots.

I added the string and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink and there ya have it.

For the guy card, I changed it up a bit, instead of stenciling the balloon, I die cut the balloon with decorative paper and popped it up on the card base and added the sentiment with matching colors.

Well, I am off to have something to eat. Check out the challenges at Just Us Girls and Less is More.
