Sweet substitutions

I am going out on a limb and going to confess something here. I hope I don't offend our hostess this week at Just Us Girls, Sharyn. This week's wild card challenge is that old favorite the shaving cream technique.

But it isn't my favorite. I am not sure why, just not crazy about it- maybe it is just to messy for my CAS brain now. Anyway, I almost thought about coming up with some excuse as to why I couldn't contribute this week. But that isn't fair, a challenge is a challenge right??!!? I decided I would make my card, but of course I had no shaving cream (the husband uses shaving soap). I wasn't going to buy it for one challenge. I put my thinking cap on and I came up with a sweet substitution!

Yes- you are seeing what you think you are seeing! Whipped cream- which I always have a few cans in the fridge! I thought why won't that work the same.

It worked just fine as you can see. Now if only the ants don't find the card!!

Gorgeous card! I was going to die cut mine too but went with the BG and have others I can use later for that. Way to be creatvie too!! I got a mini, travel sized can as hubby uses the gel version. Never thought of whipped cream - love it :)

Wonderful way to substitute. I never would have thought about using whipped cream. Well, for someone who was considering opting out this week, your card is stunning! I love the swirls showing at the edge and those die cut flowers are the perfect touch to tie it all together. Beautifully done!

Way to think outside the box, Sue. Using whipped cream looks like a great alternative for this fun technique. I have the shaving cream, just no reinkers. I wonder what I could substitute for them.

How smart of you to use the whipped cream! I love how you used your background to die cut the flower stems and add the coordinating strip. This is beautiful!

Sue, You are too funny! I like a girl that always has several cans of whipped cream in the frig. What a great substitute and a way to accomplish the challenge. And, not to say the least, but your card is gorgeous and "SWEET" too.

I absolutely love your card! I have long wished for an unscented shaving cream that really was odorless. The only time I used this technique, even after airing out my pieces for days, they still smelled. Years later, I was able to use them! lol.

My first thought was that I could whip up my own cream and leave out the sugar, but now I'm wondering if the cream would begin to sour?

In any case, your card is wonderful, and I love the hollyhocks cut from your "shaving-cream" backgrounds.

Thanks for sharing your card and showing an alternative to the shaving cream.
