Happy Little Stampers: CASE this Designer- Joyce

Hi folks! Today at Happy Little Stampers we are CASEing the wildly talented Joyce. She created this simply stunning card. I have to admit, I have never really done this technique before. You see it everywhere.

I had to mess a few up until I caught on to what to do. I probably didn't even do it the right way. I stamped my Penny Black image and then I cut out a section which I colored in. I pieced it back together and there ya have it.

I used flowers. It just seems to look better to me with flowers.  My first card I did with the cut out in the center. The cut out was to big and I felt you couldn't appreciate the uncolored section.

My next card was the same with a smaller circle cut out. Better, but still not quite right.

My last card I did the cut out off the paper and like Goldilocks, this one was just right.

What do you think?

I made all my cards sympathy cards cause I usually need them in a hurry and don't always have time to make one.

Let's see how you CASE Joyce's card this month over at Happy Little Stamper's CASE the Designer!

The Male Room Challenge #32 Magic/ Fantasy

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I spent it cooking and eating way to much Easter candy.

The holiday is over so now it is time to get back my routine. That means a week full of challenges. I am starting with the Male Room. This week's challenge is "magic/fantasy". This was a tough. I do not have any stamps of that type. I really had to think outside the box.

I am not even going to explain it except to say has any one read Carlos Castaneda's The Teachings of Don Juan?

Stamps uses are Hero Arts and Stampa Bella.

Please join us at the Male Room for this magical/ fantastical challenge.

The Male Room Challenge #31 Easter

My sincere apologies to my team at The Male Room. I totally missed our deadline this week. I have never ever done this before. I could make a gazillion excuses and they might all be accurate but the bottom line is I forgot. I had my card made, photographed but I just plain forgot to write my blog.

The challenge this time is Easter. I have barely started on my Easter cards, except for the few I have done for challenges. For my card today, I used an adorable stamp from Endless Creations that I picked up at last years Heirloom Rubber Stamp Convention.

It couldn't have been simpler especially since I have been crazy busy lately. I stamped the word bubble from one of those cheapie dollar stamps that you can get at the big box craft stores. I thought I had some some cotton puffs for the tail but could not find them (another item that probably went in a purge!) so i just used a pearl. Desperate times......

So don't be like me and miss the boat on this fun challenge but get out your bunnies, eggs and chicks and get crafting and share with us at The Male Room!!

Hopping into Spring at Laura's Loft

Hi everyone! Welcome to Laura's Loft's shop and hop! The theme this month is bound to get you hankering for warm weather, daffodils, robins, and cute little bunnies- "Hopping into Spring"!! Our Inspirational Compadres will be sharing some awesome inspiration this month.

If you arrived here from Emma's blog I know her creations inspired you! I can only hope I can do the same!

http://heartofcraft.blogspot.com/2016/02/hopping-into-spring-with-lauras-loft.html

Springtime to me is about the return of the birds. In the back of my housethere is a bit of a jungle and the all sorts of birds visit. I have an Audubon bird book sitting on the window sill to identify any newcomers. The birds were my inspiration this month.

My first card again shows how you can use your stamps in an outside the box way. I used Avery Elle's "circle it" and Newton's Nook "simply seasonal. I die cut an egg shape and sponged each egg with Altenew's seaglass, buttercream and frayed leaf. I stamped the speckles with Distress cube pumice stone from kit #5. To add some texture to each egg I inked them up with versa mark ink and covered it with WOW clear gloss EP. I repeated this step three times to get a high gloss shine on each egg. I stamped in white and embossed with WOW opaque bright white EP . The sentiment was from both Avery Elle and Newton's Nook.

My second card is more traditional and is my first time using one of the color layering stamp sets from Hero Arts. I used the "bird and branch" set. I inked the bird up with Altenew inks- buttercream, warm sunshine and seaglass, ocean waves and dusk. For the rest of the card I used dark chocolate, frayed leaf and forest glades, frosty pink and cotton candy. The sky was sponged with seaglass and the saying was from Avery Elle's "laurels" set.

What is better in blog hop than some blog love as in a give-away!! Here is an awesome prize that Laura is providing from the Loft!

The Male Room Challenge # 30: Make it Move

Make it move!!! What!!!! A card moving?!!?  This is the challenge at The Male Room this week. Clean and simple that's me, a moving card just didn't seem to fit. Holy cow, this one definitely took some research. Thank God for Pinterest! I looked up cards that moved and there ya have it: a slider card!

I do remember taking a class about 20 years ago when I first started stamping on slider cards. It was the last time I made one!!!

You can see the slider aspect, you pull the ribbon and the card slides up and reveals the sentiment. Kinda fun huh? Since it is March I am all about getting my St. Patrick's Day cards done. Hubby is half Irish and it it is better half. :) He always gets a St. Patty's card. I think he will enjoy this fun and interactive one.

There is no way that i could explain how to make this card, so I added a video that will show you. There are loads of videos online, if this one doesn't help just google slider cards.

I can't wait to see how all of you rise to this fun and moving challenge at The Male Room!!

House of Cards March Challenge- Silhouette

Singing birds.... green boughs.... fresh warm air..... yippee its spring, or at least it is almost spring! Its coming you can smell it in the air.

That's why this months challenge at House of Cards made me dig out a very old wood stamp (wood stamps?!!? some of you young pups probably aren't even sure what a wood stamp is!!) by Inkadinkadoo called branchful of birds.

The theme this month is silhouette. Just think of everything you do.

I die cut a tag die from CAS-ual Friday and using my distress ink cubes, I just did a little DTP and swiped the ink across the tag.  I stamped the birds and embossed in black. Don't make the same mistake I made the first time, make sure the ink is well dry- even hit it with the heat tool before you stamp the birds or you will have black EP everywhere on your card!

I knew the card needed something, so I embossed the music folder and with the sentiment it added just the right touch.

Check out what the rest of the DT created this month and play along!
