Now for something different........

I have been playing with a new to me type of meditative drawing calling Zentangle. In November, I ttok a class at our local night school. It was inspiring and fun at the same time. There were 10 gals in the class, many who said they couldn't draw a straight line and yet each tiny work of art that they made was gorgeous.

Mine are the top and bottom ones second from the right.

Zentangle was started by artist Marie and her partner Rick and is an international phenomenon.

Here is a short video on the history of Zentangle.

What I like about Zentangle is that it is relaxing, just repetitive patterns fitted into a small 3.5X3.5 square. It is easy to travel with. You just have paper and pens.

Generally done in black and white, when you get adventurous you can add color.

Zentangle was a stress reliever for me when my brother was in the hospital.  Check out some videos or find a certified Zentangle teacher and learn the awesome art form.

If the shoe fits....

Happy Thursday everyone! One day closer to the weekend! Yay!! Today is a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz! This one was a bit tough for me and I had to dig through my stamp sets to find an appropriate stamp.
I  found a very, very, very old Papertrey Ink set, that is sadly no longer available. Lo and behold
the cutest boot was in the set with a great sentiment.

Today's theme was chosen by Caz, our fearless leader at C4G. Drum roll please!!!

Beach days

My best buddy and sister in law just loves the beach. Once the weather is warm she heads right to the sand and surf to spend the day in the sun.  When you go to the beach with her, it is an all day event. So plan accordingly, lots of sunscreen, lunch, drinks, snacks, and good books.

Sandi, inspired this card for the Inky Paws sketch challenge and it is going to her for her birthday.

My card features the following products from Newton's Nook. Sunscape stencil, Aloha Newton stamp set, and fancy edges tag set.

With the weather starting to warm up and March being just around the corner beach days are starting to look real good!

You have two weeks to play with this fun sketch challenge at Inky Paws! We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is this Friday, February 28, 2020 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

with sympathy

Sympathy cards are the hardest cards to make. But they mean so much to person who receives them. I know all the cards I received when my brother died really touched my heart.

My card today is inspired by the new challenge at CAS on Friday. It is a color challenge.

These are Stampin' Up! colors, but when you do not have them, use colors that are as close as you can!

There is something so soothing about these colors that make it perfect for a sympathy card. This card cab easily replicated with any flower/leaf stamps you might have in your stash. If you don't have a bird die, a butterfly would work just as well.

*Please Don't forget to make your card  CAS!*

If you do not make it clean and simple or we do not see the challenge theme in your entry, them you will not be considered for a prize or a Top 3 spot. Please read the rules carefully.

Our winner will be our guest designer for the next challenge at CAS on Friday!

A last Valentine that my hubby received this past Friday. He loved the"vibrant royal reds" on this card. His words. He's a good guy, he loves to receive my cards. He said this year's cards were the best ever, but he says that every year.

This card was inspired by the sketch challenge at Inky Paws.

My card used the following dies from Newton's Nook- "speech bubbles die", "fancy edges tag set", and the frameworks dies. Also from Newton"s nook were "tumbling hearts" stencil, "Newton's sweetheart" and "cat-itude" .

Peaceful Forest

Time for another challenge at Christmas 24. The challenge to jump start your Christmas creativity. Today's theme is:

CREATE A CHRISTMAS THEME

Scenes are not my specialty or even really in my comfort zone. Scenes are hard to be CAS. I cheated and grabbed a scene stamp from Hero Arts. This is one of my fav's. From there it was easy to just embellish the image the image with an ombre of copics and added some Stickles for snow. Easy-peasy.

I sure would love to see what you all create with the theme of Christmas scene over at Christmas 24.

Birthday Hits

My guy is super into vinyl. We can spend whole afternoons at a local used record store- Shady Dog. Well, I actually hole up in the corner with a book, while my guy goes through record after record. I was so happy when the stamp companies started coming out with record stamps and dies. I immediately bought all of them up.

Today is a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz. Galz like records too ya know. I see lots of women buying vinyl at Shady Dog. The new challenge is:

BLACK AND BLING

My bling is a bit subtle, but it's there.
