Tree of Hearts

It is a sad day when our Christmas tree is taken down. If I had myway I would keep it up forever. So I have been thinking why can we leave the tree up, but  swap out the decorations. I think a Valentine tree would be awesome. A tree with twinkly white lights and red hearts all over the tree. The idea just makes me smile. 😄

My inspiration for today's card is based on the idea of a tree of hearts. The theme for this week's  Inky Paws Challenge is "love/Valentine's". I don't have many Newton Nook's  Valentine/love type stamps, so I had to be a bit creative. Using Newton's Christmas Cuddles and the evergreen stencil, I created a Valentine card. The hearts are from Newton Dreams of Paris.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our lovely theme challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday, February 8, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Sweethearts

Good morning all! Hope you are enjoying a holiday today. Me- being a nurse in a hospital, I have to work. At least the weather cooperated and we didn't get all the freezing rain and ice that was predicted, just lots of wind and fridged temps.

If you are off today, why don't you head over to Inky Paws and join in the great sketch challenge we have going on. There is still time to play along.

I am busy making Valentine cards. Today's card uses Newton's Nook's "Christmas Cudddles" set. It is awesome because it can be used for a variety of holidays and occasions.

Best friends

We had our first snow of 2019 here in PA. It was the kind of snow I like these days. It snowed on a weekend and it only snowed a few inches. By the time I go back to work on Monday, the snow will be cleaned up and there will be no worries about getting into work.

It's cold too now. I have been enjoying 40 degree days, now we are looking at days in the 20's. Days where you have to don your warmest sweaters to take a walk.

Inky Paws is having a sketch challenge this week and the weather was my inspiration.  I used "sweater weather" from Newton's Nook and colored my best friends with copic markers. I also got to use the plaid stencil for the first time along with the snowfall stencil.

so tweet

Hey everyone!! How is 2019 treating you so far? I am enjoying the fact that I am not starting back to school this week!! In fact I never have to start school again!! Yay!!! Unless..... PhD??!!? heck no!!

The weather has been rather warm here in Pennsylvania, mid 40's. I am loving that. I am hoping for a very mild snowless winter. Some one remarked the other day on how they are seeing less birds this winter than in years past. I personally haven't noticed that. My back yard is full of birds. Cardinals are among my favs. How about their beaks being red like their feathers.

Their is still one more week to play along at Inky Paws for this week's color challenge.

Great color combo huh? Sky blue, red, white, and black. My card today uses two new sets from Newton's Nook- "winter birds", "forest scene builder", and my go to set "frames and flags dies".

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in this fun color challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday January 11, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

2018 Best of Blog Review

Years ago I started doing a best year review. It's a time for me to look back and pick the best of each month.

In 2018 many of my creations used stamps and dies from Newton's Nook. I played along twice a month at Newton's Nook's Inky Paws challenge. Playing along got me invited to be part of the Inky Paws team. A highlight of my year!!

Anther highlights of the year that had nothing to do with stamping, was graduating with my Master's in Nursing.

Finishing school leaves me lots of time on my hands! Lots of stamping will be done in 2019!!

Without further ado here is the best of the last 12 months at The Creative Studio!!

Well, that wraps up another creative year! I can't wait to see what 2019 brings with all the extra time I will have!!

Wishing all of you a happy, healthy and creative 2019!!

Red Romance

Happy 2019 everyone!! Wow another year gone. The years just fly by especially the older you get. It just doesn't seem fair. I am looking forward to 2019, I will no longer be in school and I can stamp away to my heart's content. One of the things I want to do is become more involved in challenges and challenge teams. Four years ago I had to step down from all the teams I was on to concentrate on school. That is no longer the case. Woohoo!!

My buddy Mynn from House of Cards (the first challenge team I was asked to be on.) is hosting a new challenge team that is sure to inspire. The Rainbow Card Connection challenges us to use a different color each month.

January's color theme is "red romance". It's funny because red was the theme for all my hubby's Christmas cards this year. I was good to go. My card to inspire you this month uses a very old wood stamp (remember those?) "cuddle in the snow!" from 2005 Penny Black.

I use this stamp every year to make one of George's Christmas cards. 2005- that means he has recieved 13 cards using this stamp!!

Along with the snow couple, I used the sentiment from Pinkfresh's "happy hugs" and My Favorite Things "Merry Christmas circle frame".

Each year I think, how can I come up with another idea, and yet every year I do! Do any of you have stamp sets you use all the time?

Let's kick off the Rainbow Card Challenge and join in the fun and create a red forward card!! You have all month to play along!
