That's why it's a challenge!

Hey everyone!! I know a lot of you think those of us on various DT  have no problems when it comes to challenges- I mean that's why we were picked to be on the teams- right? Well even DT members have to struggle once in awhile. It's like exercise, sometimes you have to kick it up a notch to be the best you can be.

The new challenge at Inky Paws was kicking it up a notch for me. It is a color challenge that asks us to use pink, baby blue and mint green. I struggled and threw away a few cards before I was happy with today's entry.

I think the main thing that helped me was finding the right color inks. Thank you Catherine Pooler!!! I used "it's a boy", "it's a girl", and "mint to be" inks from her party ink collection. Just having the right colors got my mojo moving.

My card today used the new "bold blooms" stencil and "loads of blooms" stamp set. I have been having a blast with that stamp set and you will see it being featured quite a bit in the future. I added some clear dots to embellish the card with glossy accents and it pretty much put itself together.

I gotta say, it's good to push yourself further. You will be surprised at what you can accomplish.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in this challenging color challenge. Stretch yourself and your creativity! We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday, April 5, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

You're the best!

Happy Monday all!! Spring is only a few days away and what better way to usher it in than a "Think Spring" challenge going on over at Inky Paws this week.

My card today was inspired by all the signs of spring that surround me. For me, spring is about the sun warming us and the flowers are beginning to bloom. During my daily walk I see signs of spring everywhere. The daffodils and tulips are pushing up and will be blooming before you know it. The crocuses are blooming.

Go Green!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. As you all know, everyone is Irish today!!  It is one of my fav holiday's because it features my most favorite color in the world- GREEN!! I just love green.

It is also special since my guy is Irish- at least half Irish. That counnts right?

St. Patrick's Day stamps are hard to find, I pick them up when ever I come across them. For awhile the only ones I could finsdwould be in the bargain bins of those big box craft stores. And that was before the MISTI so they never stamped right.

Today I have a tidy collection of  St. Patrick's Day stamps.

My card today features an adorable set from Pretty Pink Posh and the saying is from Impression Obsession.  For the sponging of the green I used my new brushes from Picket Fences. They are truly amazing and yes.... life changing.

I am entering the challenge at Addicted to CAS, because... well....the code word is green!!!

Hope you all have a magical St. Patrick's Day!! Top of the day to all of you!!

I am dreaming of blooms....

The weather folk say we will be seeing a touch of spring this week. I sure hope that's a fact. I am dreaming of blooms during this cold rainy weather we have been having. Kinda like the chick on my card-she has her blooms to cheer her up in the rain.
The challenge this week at Inky Paws couldn't be more timely, it's a theme challenge- "think spring".
For my card I used a brand new set from Newton's Nook called "Loads of Blooms". What a fun set with awesome images.

Deciding how to color my gal was easy, I just played off the  colors on my design paper. That's a good tip to remember, when you are having trouble on picking colors, use your scrapbook paper as a guide.

I kinda mimicked the rain with Newton Nook's  bokeh stencil. My tonic drops ended up a bit wonky, but hey that's ok huh?

Lucky

Happy March everyone!! It's one month closer to spring and that is making me so happy. As I write this we are having yet another "snow event". I am so sick of "snow events". Bring on spring!!

Inky Paws. is in the second week of a fun sketch challenge and there is still time to play along.

My card today features Newton's pot of gold. I love this stamp set and it is a staple for that green holiday. I filled the pot with gold shards. The rainbow was created with copics.

Yummy yellow, mellow yellow

Happy March everyone!! One month closer to spring. March is such an iffy month weather wise. It can be beautiful, sunny and warm and the next day a blizzard can blow in. But at least you can see the light at the endo of winter's tunnel.

That's why this month's color challenge at The Rainbow Card Challenge is just what I need to remind me spring is just around the corner. Yummy yellow! Yay yellow!!

What about mellow yellow? I know we are into our third month of color challenges at The Rainbow Card Challenge, but I had this brilliant idea to inspire you each month. I am going to post a music video featuring the month's color.

There are lots of song with yellow in them. I went with the first one that came to mind, it also shows my age!! LOL.

Mellow Yellow by Donovan.

You can't be unhappy around yellow. There are so many great yellow things out there. Lemons, sunshine, daffodils, black eyed susans, bananas, yellow labs to name just a few.

But for me yellow means spring and spring means flowers begin to bloom. My card just had to feature flowers. I used a very old wood stamp from Hero Arts, "flowers and swirls", which I was pleasently surprised to see available still from Simon Says Stamp. The wee birds flitting through the flowers is from Newton Nook's "holiday smooches", a retired set that you can get for a steal now.

The great thing about monochromatic cards is they often work in other colors also. You could easily make this card in pink, purple, or any other color too.

Pull out all your yellow and join us for a yummy yellow challenge over at the Rainbow Card Challenge.  you have all month to play along!!
