Blue Botanicals take two

Happy Monday folks! What a rainy weekend we have had here in southeast Pa. But it was perfect to hunker down and craft, cook and binge watch shows. What are you all binge watching? The husband and I just starting "The Wire". I know that was on years ago, but I haven't seen it.

You still have one more week to play along with us at our "one layer" card challenge at Inky Paws. I have noticed that some folks who joined in have had more than one layer. One layer means just that. One piece of folded card stock. I know it is a challenge. I just love to pop things up!! If I can do it, so can you!!

I decided to go with a similarly colored schemed card from last weeks card.  My card features the "Floral Roundabout" from Newton's Nook. Again I added some texture (to replace the pop ups) by scoring lines on my card stock. Just like in food preparation, texture adds that extra something to a creation.

Now for your musical inspiration.

I couldn't help myself. So appropriate.

You have one more week to only use one sheet of card stock at Inky Paws. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.
The deadline to enter today's challenge is  Friday June 17, 2022 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at  Inky Paws.

Blue Botanicals

Happy Monday all!! I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far.  I am writing this blog a week in advance, because I am enjoying the week at Bethany Beach. My brother has a place. I am probably relaxing on the beach when you are reading this!

Today starts a new challenge at Inky Paws. You will either love this or hate it!! LOL!! We are asking for a one layer card. I gotta admit this CAS gal did struggle a bit. I so like a popped up element on my cards!

The trick to a one layer card is to add some interest. I chose to add that bit of interest by using my score tool to create some score lines on my card. It took this card from blah to yah whoo!! My card today features stamp sets "Blooming Botanicals" and "Birthday Essentials" from Newtons Nook.

All I can say "life is good today".

So long, farewell

Today is sad day. Life has gotten very busy and I have had to cut back on my DT commitments. Everyone who knows me, knows that CAS is my go to style of stamping, so it is with great sadness that I have to leave CAS on Friday. This is my last posting.

My last challenge is one that I am hosting. My theme for this challenge is :

TINY IMAGES

Do you know what I am talking about? I am thinking those small stamps that are filler with the other larger stamps in a stamp set. Or just any tiny stamps.

A perfect way to use little stamps is to create stenciled windows and scatter those tiny stamps across the stenciled areas and add a sentiment. This creates a quick, easy, clean and simple card.

I am posting this video to say "So long, farewell" to all my teamies at CAS on Friday. You are all an amazing group of artists!

You have two weeks to use those tiny little stamps that have not felt any inky love and share them with us at CAS on Friday!

Monster Mash

My husband and boss are rockers, guitarists, and total music lovers. I have been collecting lots of music related stamps and this set from Your Next Stamp is one of my go to sets.

I decided to spend some early morning time in my studio before the 94 degree heat set in and play along at AAA Cards, AAA Birthday and Addicted to CAS

This card involved a bit of masking. Now this is something that normally I never do. It just seems like to much work. But I will tell you it was so worth it.

Head over to AAA Cards, AAA Birthday, and Addicted to CAS and play along too.

Just prance

Well this a first for me,  a holiday card in July! I never start them before November. AAA Cards is hosting a cool challenge to leave lots of white space with a twist for a Christmas card.

I had to dig out my holiday stamps and then find a set I wanted to play with. I decided to go with Clearly Besotted's "Let's Prance". I could just picture a reindeer flying across the top of my card.

I kept it very simple making it a one layer card.

A little stickles later and this CAS white space dominant card was done.

Head over to AAA Cards and play along!

Inky Paws 100th Challenge!!!

Hey there everyone! I hope you have checked out the BIG 100th challenge over at Inky Paws. There are all kinds of prizes and fun going on.

We are challenging you to go back and pick your favorite challenge from the past 6 years and play it again. Each of us designers did the same thing. Since I just started paying along at Inky Paws about a year and half ago, I decided to go way back and play along with a challenge that I did not have the opportunity to do.

I am a very CAS stamper, but usually have something that pops up on my cards, so I decided to Challenge 18 was the one to try.  One layer cards can be trickyyouthink there easy but not really. I went through about 6 cards just getting the embossing down then stamping seemed to be a problem.

Holy cow, what else could go wrong?!!? but finally I ended up with two cards I was happy with.

Both cards use the frame and flag die set from Newton's Nook to embosss the frame. The flowers are Newton's Nook's "dainty daisies". The sentiments are from NN's "floral fringe" set. The kraft card I used my colored pencils. I love white pencils on the kraft cardstock. The daisies really sing. On my white card I went back to my comfort zone with my copics.

Here's the details: Choose your favorite challenge & play it again!

Pick any of our previous Color, Sketch or Theme challenges and play it again! Just decide on your favorite and add it to your post along with your entry matching the previous challenge: color, sketch or theme! Crafty inspiration

Hey there everyone. It has been a crafty weekend for me. I have had to make birthdaycards, birthday cards and cards just because, like the one I am posting today. AAA cards has a cool challenge. They are asking you to make a one layer card with a optional twist of using only black and white.

I am a very CAS stamper, but I still usually have someting popped up and yikes- black and white!! This was a challenge for me. I like bright colors. Also, you need to be very aware that when the card is only black and white, you can't hide your mistakes. LOL!!!

I rarely by kits from stamp companies, but the May kit from Hero Arts was one I couldn't pass up. It is perfect for making cards for all my crafty friends.  The sentiment is from Atenew's "crafty friends" set. Someone special may be receiving this card in the mail this week.

I toyed with the idea of adding some bling or glitter, but forced myself to keep it simple and let the black and white speak for itself. I actually like how it turned out.

There is so much awesome inspiration to be found at AAA cards. Check this card out from Tinstar. I think it is so clever. AAA is having a design team challenge. I am throwing my hat in the ring and keeping my fingers crossed.
