A very busy sketch

I was not going to enter this card in the challenge over at Happy Little Stampers, because the more  looked at it the more I realized I totally over thought the sketch. I have the tendency to do this, especially with photo and sketch challenges. But I thought what the heck, you all should see the bad along with the good or at least what I think is good. This is definitely in the not good category.
The problem is I felt I needed to capture each element in the sketch, otherwise I feel like I am cheating. But do not listen to me. The idea of a sketch is it is a guide not directions to be followed to the letter.

I like the idea of the card but would have gotten rid of some of the elements such as the leaves hanging down below the banner and the leaves under the pink flower. Then it would have been more CAS and not to busy.

I am busy with school for the next few weeks, when I am done, maybe I will try to remake the card and see what you all think. In the mean time, head on over to Happy Little Stampers and show me how it is done!

House of Cards Challenge

Enamel dots, where did they come from and how did they become so popular? I like them because they are flatter then pearls or gems. Makes the card less bulky for mailing.

There are so many companies selling this fun embellishments, but as you will see over the next four weeks at the House of Cards, there are many ways to make your own.

I tried to think outside the box for my card. I used my enamel dots as stars and planets in the anniversary card that I made for George. He loves all things astronomy and space. I think he will love this card- even if it doesn't feature a teddy bear!

The star banner is from Papertrey Ink, the space ship is an old Amuse stamp (remember when they weren't a Stampin Up wanna be) and Lawn Fawn rounds out the card with the sentiment from their Lucky Stars set.

Be sure to check back each week at the House of Cards to see how the teams were inspired by enamel dots and to see the videos on how to make your own!

The word is celebrate- World Card Making Day!

Happy World Card Making Day! The best day of the year next to my birthday!! Even my husband gets into the action, by getting me flowers!

So this is why the challenge word by Sharyn this week at Just Us Girls is perfect- CELEBRATE! Celebrate anything- the sky is the limit with this challenge!

The challenge today gave me an opportunity to use a new Mama Elephant set- Soiree.  It is always fun to crack open a new stamp and get it all inky!

This week we are introducing our new team members- say hello to Ina and Chris! Please give them a big welcome by playing along with our challenge this week at Just Us Girls. It is so good to not be the new kid on the block!

So celebrate World Card Making Day by being creative!!

Cherish the moment

I had some time to actually play with a bunch of new stamps I got in the last month or so. In the process of playing, I decided to join in the fun over at The One- Layer Simplicity challenge. They hosting a color challenge and they offered several choices for the challenge. I chose "shades of summer #5".

I used my Mama Elephant's Bloomsies set  to create my flowery one layer greeting. I also made the card using cool blues but die cut the banner and popped it.

I am hard pressed to decide which one I like better. What about you?
