Beach barks

It has been a long time since I have been to the beach! Up until covid I visited my brother and SIL at the beach a few times a year. I so miss those days! Hopefully, I will be able to visit again soon.

For today's card I just cut an ombre of beach blue stripes and added "Beach Barks" from Newton's Nook.

Stripes

Stripes- one of my most favorite things in the world. I have a million striped shirts and  I love to add stripes to my cards. That's why today's challenge at Inky Paws. was so much fun to do!

We want you to add stripes! I had to think a bit creatively for today's card. 

 

 

I took the sun and palm stencil from Newton's Nook and just used the sun stencil to create my stripes. I added "dainty daises" for a fun and kinda funky card.

Well, July has come and gone and I missed the whole Christmas in July thing, card making even the Hallmark Christmas movies!! But hey that's OK, because 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is going strong with challenges to get you prepared for the upcoming holidays.

The challenge is to use vellum on a window card. I had to search for vellum. It isn't some thing this CAS girl uses very often.  Luck would have it, that it was relatively easy to find!

I love red and brown together and that is why I stenciled this unconventional colored snowstorm. Brown flakes on the background and an overlay of red flakes on the vellum. I added the reindeer and snowmen from Clearly Besotted's "Christmas Lineup". Some always needed bling, a sentiment and there we go.

This is my first time joining the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, but it won't be my last! So what that I missed Christmas in July, when I have Christmas in August, September, October, November, and December!!

 

Blue-green or greenish-blue

August 1! Holy moly- the summer is almost over! Have to say, it has been such a brutally hot summer that a little fall would be nice. Next thing ya know I will be complaining about how cold it is!! 

Since it is the first of the month, that means a new color challenge at The Rainbow Card Challenge! This month's color is:

Teal- such a difficult color, Blue-green, greenish-blue, not my favorite color, but always fun to get out of your color comfort zone and try something new.

I have been so totally going broke on Pinkfresh Studio's stamp, stencil and die combos. Today's card features "Folk Garden". I used the matching stencil set to add the color and die cut the whole thing. All so very easy peasy.

So if you are struggling with the summer heat, here is a little something, something to keep you sweating!

When i was first invited to be part of the DT for Inky Paws, Jen the owner of Newton's Nook told me if I ever had any ideas for stamps to let her know. I immediately responded by asking for a 4th of July set with Newton riding a fire cracker. that was a few years ago. How excited was I to see Newton's 4th of July for sale this year!! That set went right into my cart. Today I am using Newton's 4thof July in an unconventional way. For a birthday card.

So long, farewell

 

Today is sad day. Life has gotten very busy and I have had to cut back on my DT commitments. Everyone who knows me, knows that CAS is my go to style of stamping, so it is with great sadness that I have to leave CAS on Friday. This is my last posting. 

My last challenge is one that I am hosting. My theme for this challenge is :

TINY IMAGES

Do you know what I am talking about? I am thinking those small stamps that are filler with the other larger stamps in a stamp set. Or just any tiny stamps.

A perfect way to use little stamps is to create stenciled windows and scatter those tiny stamps across the stenciled areas and add a sentiment. This creates a quick, easy, clean and simple card.

I am posting this video to say "So long, farewell" to all my teamies at CAS on Friday. You are all an amazing group of artists!

You have two weeks to use those tiny little stamps that have not felt any inky love and share them with us at CAS on Friday!

Bigger boat

All my teamies at Inky Paws know my favorite Newton Nook stamp set is "Shark Bites".  I have used it more often for challenges at Inky Paws than any other Newton's Nook. Yet I never had the "Shark Frenzy" stamp set. When I saw the sketch for our next challenge at Inky Paws, I quickly placed an order for this awesome stamp! It was going to fit the sketch perfectly!

Sometimes sketch challenges throw me off. I have the worse time with them. But this one I had all kinds of ideas floating around.
