Snow Much

Happy New Year  everyone! Here's to 2022 being an improvement over 2021! I don't know about you all, but every year after the holidays I find myself in a crafting rut. The holidays just suck the creativity out of me. It takes a few weeks to get my mojo back.

Today starts the first challenge for 2022 at Inky Paws. This is a great color challenge, guaranteed to help you get your mojo back! We are looking for you to use candy red, white, brown, and grey in your creations.

My card today uses the "Snowman Roundabout" stamp set and the Plaid stencil set,  both from Newton's Nook. Don't the challenge colors work perfectly with this stamp set and stencil?

How about some musical inspiration to start out the new year right.

Snow people in love

Every year, for the last 20 years, I am guessing,  I make a card using this very old wood stamp from Penny Black for my husband.

When I saw the challenge at Cupcake Inspirations, I knew I would be sharing my snow peeps card with all of you.

Here is Taylor to get you in a romantic Christmas mood.

Snowfolk

Good day everyone! Count down to turkey day. I have been shopping and getting ready since the weekend for Thanksgiving and It is just the husband and me!! I love to cook as much as I craft so it is all a labor of love. Since I am not a huge fan of turkey, I usually make a roast chicken, which I love! How about you all turkey? Something else? Do you cook or just get to eat?

Today starts a new challenge at Inky Paws. A sketch challenge. Time to get started on those holiday cards!

I took the sketch and turned it on it's head. I have to say I am partial to a vertical card. How about you? Vertical or horizontal? For my snow strips I used the "Snowfall Roundabout" from Newton's Nook. The snowfolk are a new stamp set also from Newton's Nook- "Snow Much Cheer" .

Come and get your holidays started with our sketch challenge at Inky Paws.  We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

day late, dollar short

Well, July has come and gone and I missed the whole Christmas in July thing, card making even the Hallmark Christmas movies!! But hey that's OK, because 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is going strong with challenges to get you prepared for the upcoming holidays.

The challenge is to use vellum on a window card. I had to search for vellum. It isn't some thing this CAS girl uses very often.  Luck would have it, that it was relatively easy to find!

I love red and brown together and that is why I stenciled this unconventional colored snowstorm. Brown flakes on the background and an overlay of red flakes on the vellum. I added the reindeer and snowmen from Clearly Besotted's "Christmas Lineup". Some always needed bling, a sentiment and there we go.

This is my first time joining the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, but it won't be my last! So what that I missed Christmas in July, when I have Christmas in August, September, October, November, and December!!

Be merry

Christmas 24 is hosting a new challenge. One that is near and dear to my heart.

Cute animals!! I was laughing because of of my teamies left a post that she had to search her stamps for a cute animal. I had astruggle trying to decide which cute animal stamp I was going to use!!

These are my Christmas critter sets. This isn't even my other occasion critter sets. Critter sets are probably at least 50% of my stamps!

My card today uses Clearly Besotted set which I cannot seem to find, so it might be retired. Let me know if you come across it.

You have two weeks to show us your cute critter cards at Christmas 24!

Isn't this a great sketch?!!? So many ways to go with it. especially if you have been lucky enough to buy any of the fun new heart stamps and dies from Newton's Nook!

My card today uses "Frozen Friends" from Newton's Nook. I love a good snowman set and this one covers lots of wintery occasions.

Comfort Zone

Yippee it's the weekend!! So happy!! Lot's of time to spend in my studio! Today is a new challenge at Christmas 24! Today is a challenge that is out of my CAS comfort zone. We are asking you to make a card with a fancy fold.

 FANCY FOLDED CARDS

Fancy fold cards are something I NEVER make. It is just to much work. And somehow I can reconcile CAS with fancy folds.

So I went to google and asked her if she could help me. She told me to ask Jennifer McGuire. Jennifer never let's us stampers down. She showed me the perfect CAS fancy fold card!

I hope this video will provide you with inspiration to join in our challenge at Christmas 24

As you can see I am using a really old wooden stamp from Hero Arts- "Stunning Snowflakes". You can still get this stamp on Amazon!! I paired this with Honey Bee's "Season to Sparkle"

I created a second card that might be a bit easier than my first one that you have to do some partial die cutting for. I agree that it is a bit tricky Jennifer makes it look so easy huh?

I hope I have inspired you to join in the fun at Christmas 24. You Have two weeks to play along!

Look out for UFOs

Hey everyone, I hope you are survived turkey day! I spent the week at my brother's cooking, but managed to get in some stamping time before I left for his house.

My Sisters in Snark seem to find my Halloween watercolor card worth making me not only Queen of Snark!

Along with the all honors this title bestows is getting to be a guest designer for the next challenge. Today's challenge is to use those pesky and forgotten UFOs that all stampers seem to collect.

Think the Island of Misfit Toys in that ultimate holiday classic Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer. So you still don't get it?!!? UFOs- unfinished objects. We all have stashes of stuff we haven't finished, misfits that need a makeover and new homes to be sent to.

I have several. This is my Christmas UFO stash. Since the holiday is around the corner, I decided to focus on that box.

After going through it, here are the pices I pulled out to play with.

The only new thing I added to my card was the cool BG paper from Reverse Confetti. The rest was just working out the design.

I loved how all my UFOs came together into this fun and whimsical holiday card!

So please join the snarky stampers and pull out your misfits and UFOs and put them to good use at this great challenge!
