Cool Chick

Gosh- I know it has been awhile since I have blogged, but I didn't think I would forget how to use blogger! I had the worst time trying to upload my photos from iphoto. Anyone having problems with that?

Anyway, I figured out a workaround. Grad school has been incredibly stressful and time consuming. This past week was the first time I have had to really sit down and stamp.

Today's card fits the bill for a few challenges. These were supposed to be Easter cards, but since I didn't get to stamp until after Easter, they are spring cards!! 😀

I used this super cute stamp set from Simon Says Stamp- Some Bunny. The background was done using this fun stencil from Timmy and a rainbow of distress inks.

This card just makes me splashing in puddles, dancing in moonlight, spinning under the sun kinda happy!

I am entering it in a few challenges:

Use a Stencil

I have a few weeks off until I am back at school, so hopefully you may see me again soon. Until then check out these great challenges!

CASing Sandy

I came across this video from Sandy Allnock sometime after Christmas and the bright colors on her cards really intrigued me.

I watched it and immediately had to play. I pulled out my color burst powders and created my own bright backgrounds.

I decided these warm reds would make a perfect Valentine card. I won't describe the process, please watch the video.

CAS on Sunday is challenging us to use hearts in our work, so I am entering this. card.

Try your hand at this awesome technique and play along at CAS on Sunday!

Winter romance

I am a creature of habit and ritual. I have this Penny Black stamp- Cuddle in Snow-circa 2005! Needless to say it has been retired, but not for me. This stamp gets pulled out and I make a Christmas card for my husband every year with it. It took him about 5 years to realize that I was using the same stamp ,just a new design.

This year I paired the snow couple with a new landscape dies and a Tim Holtz snow fall embossing plate. To add shimmer I used glitter paper for one hillside and added glitter to the snowfall. I kept the card clean and simple and surprisingly sentiment-less.

Since one of my New Year plans was to enter more challenges, I am entering George's card in a few challenges.
My girls at Just Us Girls have word theme this week- Winter. My card is all about winter!

The Friday Mashup has a winter theme with snowflakes.

Curtain Call has a photo inspiration with the theme of Winter Wonder. My colors might not be those rustic creams and browns but the card is all about the "wonder of a winter romance".

Allsorts is looking for cold and frosty colors. I think my card looks and feel cold and frosty.

Lastly CAS on Sunday have a few weeks left for a Christmas challenge

It's fun to be stamping for no good reason and I hope to be able to show you all lots of cool things over the next year.  I am presently working on Valentine cards and will show off some in the next month.

Be sure to check out these challenge sites and show off what you are doing.

Serendipity

Serendipty- a "happy accident" a "fortunate mistake". That is this card. I was going for a card using this Spellbinders labels 25 die, but it just wasn't working out, so I put the card base off to side.

A few days later, I came came back to it and just stared at it for awhile and it came to me, that it reminded me of a grave stone.  I trimmed off the bottom and sponged in the back ground color and the rest is history. I used a bunch of stamps and dies. The base grave stone lets your imagination run wild.

I am entering this at the the Curtain Call. They are looking for a spooky scene.

At CAS on Sunday they are looking for shaped cards. It isn't my most CAS card, but it definitely has a shape!

At the Friday Mashup they are looking for cards with either torn paper or fussy cutting. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to fussy cut. I find it very zen to just sit and cut things out. I must be crazy huh?

I hope you enjoyed World Card Making Day yesterday like I did!
